Attended our Regional Pagan Federation Conference this weekend and one of the talks was given by Steve Wilson on Chaos (Results) Magic. Basically the theme is, if it works for you - use it, and he's written some good books on this for the budding Magician.
To prove his point and as a great opening gambit, he told us all that he would be opening his ritual with a slightly unorthodox opening gambit, and then proceeded to call in each of the quarters by calling out the appropriate Teletubbies name (they are appropriately coloured!) and making an invoking sign at the same time, which corresponded with the sigils they have on their heads! Stunned pause from the audience, followed by spontaneous applause!
Anyone else come across unusual ritual openings?

If only I had saved it somewhere. I'll do a search and see if I can come up with it. I've seen it on the net before. Each quarter is a different chocolate, etc. It's great and a whole lotta fun for destressing. (something someone as serious as I needs a lot of)

PS Will hopefully pick up the recipe for the Chocolate Ritual next time I log on (probably tomorrow as I'm hooked). Meanwhile, I must away to my bed - to sleep - perchance to dream.

Teletubbies!
Actually, reminds me of a friend of mine who is into Chaos Magic, and something he told me about the Parking and Traffic God, who appears as a cat on a skateboard.

I used to have a copy of the teletubbies ritual, and the chocolate ritual, as well as a varient: the honey ritual ;) they were all rather good, I'll see if I can find them again...I'm sorely tempted to actually perform the chocolate one.

I love this stuff! I was getting a bit sick and tired of all the heavy-handed wicca stuff! Actually, my best magick is done when I need to find a parking space on a Saterday afternoon! :D
Btw, I'm new here, I better go and introduce myself somewhere!

I use this charm all the time; "Darling Goddess Squat, to help me find a parking spot" And she always comes through for me. I envision her as one of those thinnish, permed, blond ladies you see downtown, sort of like a character played by Jane Fonda in her late thirties...

Ok, Teletubbies scare me. I've seen how kids get hypnotized by those things and it really creeps me out. Personally, my kids watch the Bear in the Big Blue House. At least the bear talks to the moon (aptly named Luna btw) at the end of every show!
But I am very interested in the chocolate and the honey rituals. Anything that involves food has to be good!

iI couldn't get through the chocolate one it was tooo funny! :D
The Teletubbie thing was too. What will Pagans think up next? I guess it would be good for the kids. I think I heard of someone using Pokemon. Dragon Tails might be neat!
I wish I could have seen that guy do it. I could just hear him call, LaLa, Tinky winky, Poe. I can't remember the other one. :)
I love Bear talking to the Moon!! My baby is only 9mos but I like to watch it! Sometimes I think the Hensons are Pagan. I love all their stuff.

I wrote this Dr. Seuss style circle casting thing once:
I cast this magic circle round,
round and round upon the ground,
light that flows from here to there,
flowing flowing everywhere
I cast to keep the bad stuff out,
circle round and round about.
Hey..it works

Our circle did the Chocolate Ritual last year to celebrate one woman becoming a Crone and we laughed so hard !
Here's a link to the Teletubby Ritual... it looks like marvelous fun.

I love how Steve Wilson added the bit about making the sigils in the air when invoking TinkyWinky, Dipsy, Lala and Po (that wasn't in the ritual I found). For those who can't remember what the sigils look like, here's a link to a picture of the Teletubbies: http://www.teletubbies.com/
