Well, there are many options. You could take some melatonin(sp?) which helps to regulate your sleep cycle. You could meditate before or while you go to bed.

Try visualizing a big wall with all sort of different colors on it that represents your mind. then visualize a bucket of paint and a roller (or brush if you prefer). The bucket is filled with white paint and will never run out. Then all you do is keep painting the wall white. If thoughts pop into your mind just paint over them again.

I have a reading light right beside the bed and I read. Dont read anything really good though!! LOL
I am so busy all day that I usually read just a few lines and I am ready to pass out. With the light right beside me I dont have to get up and re-wake up in order to turn it off. :)

Here are some methods that will help you out:

1) Setting biofeedback to make you sleepy at night / desired time of day, and keep you asleep.
2) Mental programming to rid any psychological problems that prevents your sleeping.
3) Meditation, and lots of it to help quiet your mind and give you focus.
4) Hypnotism, preferably from a psychic.
5) Clearing, grounding, and centering your energetic body.
6) Setting up a mental beacon in your head every night that constantly tells your subconcious or reptilian mind a sleep message. Make sure you turn it off when you wake up, or you may become narcoleptic, lol.

These are all great methods. None, however, have worked for me, because I'm a little funny in the head, concerning sleep at least. :smash:

I have had several people tell me lately that cutting the caffeine has really helped them sleep better. Even people who have been coffee/tea drinkers for years and it never bothered them, when they gave it up, have found themselves sleeping better.

I don't do coffee or tea, so I am just passing on what they tell me.

I read and do a grounding, protective meditation before bed, and that usually does it for me.

Lavender and calamile are good scents to use.

Put some under your pillow.

Keeping away from caffiene 3 hours before youy sleep. This also applies to food.

A hot drink before you go to sleep, nothing with caffiene but maybe something herbal or hollicks.

Try and regulate your sleep. If you have a pattern your body is going to prepare to rest more then if you just go to sleep whenever.

Do you have a tv in your room? This can be bad, try and make your room purely for sleeping. That way your mind will know when your in your room. Its time to sleep.

I read somewhere also that vibrations from books can disturb sleeping.Having some material to throw over book shelves and the Tv when its time to sleep could help.

Try and set time in the day to think about your life.Make it not near sleeping time. Many people cant get to sleep for worrying and actively trying to solve problems before you can start to worry will decrease anxiousness.

There are also over the counter tablets can can be effective in inducing sleep. Then if you still cant find any shut eye, go to your local doctor.
