how do you choose stones

Hi,

have you ever chosen a stone by running your hand a little above the stones to see which one sends out vibes.

Sounds weird, but sometimes I get "vibrations" from stones..like thay are calling me..BUY ME...lol the last time there were a set of 6 or 7 points, I waved my hand slowly over them and the rose quartz made my hand tingle.

I also just buy what visually apeals to me..right now its florite..I need (ya rigth) another point..

I have a similar method...

Before buying a stone, I hold it up to my heart, stand-up straight, and close my eyes. If I feel myself leaning forward (into the stone), I know it's right for me. If I feel myself lean back (away from the stone), I put it down and move onto another.

It seems to work well, but I can't take credit for inventing this technique... I read it somewhere.

Same here, usually the stone I have a particular affinity for Unakite, when I see a display of unakite, I have to buy one and the one I buy is usually the first one to jump out at me. It isn't always on top, sometimes its is peeking out from the pile. :thewave:

I put the stone in the palm of my left hand, and run my the fingers of my right over it. If I get a light-headed feeling from it-that baby's coming with me _cloud9_

Mostly I use the same method as for drawing a daily rune: I put my hand into a container, stir a bit and choose mineral which seems to stick to my fingers.

I don't normanlly buy crystals anymore but when I did it was by vibrations I picked up on.

They just sort of find me. Oddly I have collected rocks since I was a small child. I still have them. I didn't know then why I was so strongly connected. I remember one day my step dad got tired of my rock collecting and admiring them and he took a handful and threw them in our gravel driveway. And then took a picture of me. I have that picture still, and yes I went straight to the driveway and found all the ones he threw.
If I make it a point to look for a rock in nature and pick one up I lose it within just a few minutes. I have to remind myself to let them find me. Losing them is natures way of letting me know it's not my choice but hers.

There is a small little store I go to that carries a huge amount of crystals and gemstones. I spend A LOT of time just touching and holding different crystals and stones to find which one feels just right for me. How the crystal or stone feels to me in my heart and soul is first and foremost in my mind. The second key to me picking the right crystal or stone is the quality of the crystal or stone. I just don't buy anything. If it is of poor quality (if it is the cut and polished type) then I don't bother with it. I am also picky about the quality of my tumbled stones as well. I am also picky about my clusters of crystals. I don't buy clusters that have loose points. I have actually bought an amethyst cluster where the points all came off within two weeks time. They ended up making great pendants for necklaces but the fact remains I am more careful with the quality of all the stones and crystals I buy. My stones and crystals are displayed all over my home, for magickal / metaphysical reasons and they just make beautiful decorations.

My pagan mentor is slowly teaching me about crystals and stones.

That's what she recommends doing. It makes sense. You want to pick out a high naturally charged stone and then charge it even more for whatever purpose you're doing.

but i was made to feel so sad when you realise these stones are blasted out of the ground..causing destruction and devastation.....

is there a way to buy them where they are just on ground level...
mmm what did our ancestors do before the rock shops appeared?

have you ever been on a beach and had to bring home that pebble cos it spoke to you? Or you just really felt drawn to it..same when you are weeding and digging the garden?

isnt this what we get our earth energy contact from..yes but i still keep the few crystals i have left...

any thoughts on this?

Think about it like this....The Goddess allowed man to think of ways to blast crevices in the Earth. Everything has a reason. Maybe sometimes that reason is not clear.


And yeah, I'll walk along the beach and collect stones. =)
