Is there a ritual/spell or meditation I can do to help me find something I've lost.

It's a small rock my mom gave me. I can see it in my mind plain as day, but I cannot tell where it is. Please don't ask me if I remember where I had it last. It is not where I last remember having it. I've looked there, top to bottom. I keep it on me at all times, but last night my hot water in my tub would not stop running. So I HAD to fix it, it was driving me batty. In the hot water knob - chaos, I lost all traces of memory to where I put the rock.

This is a simple one, but it works well for me:

Go to the last place you remember having the rock. Cast a circle or whatever it is you do before a spell. Now visualize that you hold one end of a silver cord in your hand. The other end is tied to the rock. Visualize yourself pulling on the silver cord, the rock getting closer and closer until it's in your hand. Take a minute to be fully aware of it - what it looks like, how it feels, if it has a smell, etc. If you happen to have actual silver ribbon of some sort, it wouldn't hurt to tie it to something in the vicinity of the last place you remember having the rock. Then go about your life, periodically checking places you think it might be. Usually, my misplaced objects turn up a few days after that working.

I got this off Lady of the Tree's website.

*******
FINDING SPELL
taught to me by Hertha Land

When you have lost something (this works great with keys, not so well with
remote controls), first look everywhere you can think of, especially the last
place you saw them (the Gods get pissed off if you use magic out of sheer
laziness.) If you still can't find it, stand still, close your eyes and calm
your mind. Breath slowly from deep in your stomach and with your mind, call to
the thing your looking for. Then open your eyes and begin to walk slowly
around. The lost thing will call you to it. You must be aware and "feel" for
it.

I once was looking for some seeds I wanted to plant and passed a shelf three
times. I was sure I hadn't put them on the shelf but I kept coming back to the
shelf and sure enough there they were calling out to me. I've also used this to
find car keys lost in a huge field. I walked right to them.

Well you could try talking to the rock asking it to show you where it's at. Of course if you get really desperate you could try beseeching The Lord Of The Lost. I tend to work more directly with archetypes than particular "deities" so if you're more comfortable choose a being who resonates for you. The essential archetype is that The Lord is a prankster. He is not cruel but He enjoys testing people to see how important a posession really is to them. If you invoke Him and are able to convince Him that what you've lost is precious enough He will help you find it.

There are basically three ways to do this.

First, appeal to His ego. An invocation along the lines of "Oh Lord Of The Lost I am unequal to the task of fathoming your ways. Please take pity on a poor mortal and reveal to Me where you have so cleverly hidden My rock. For I know that you do not seek harm and it is most precious to me."

Second try appealing to his better nature. He does have one. As you look for it call on His name and tell him how special the rock is to you. If perhaps you have been careless about looking after it in the past thank him for helping to remind you how precious it is and promise sincerely to take better care of it once it is returned to you.

The third way is to offer a bargain. The lord likes to involve mortals in his games. You could promise to hide something small as a joke on a friend, or you could offer up something else of yours that you would not mind so much if it disappeared. Make sure you're willing to go through with any bargains you strike though.

Personally when I've had to invoke him I've used methods one and two.

Best of luck to you.

What if you're too jittery to look? I keep thinking of the places I usually keep it. I KNOW they're not there. I didn't put them there that day. I know that for a fact. Gah, I can clear my mind enough to meditate on it. And I don't do "spells" or "cast circles" no room for that.

um, here is the item. It's not that big.
