Hello,

I've just read the book Uthark by T. Karlsson and want to recommend it to everyone who's interested in the subject. The author doesn't claim any historical evidence for the rune row, he just presents it as a complement to enrich your practical work as a whole. The Uthark has as many know been questioned but I must say that there seem to be many interesting aspects in it.

In the book there is also a chapter about the renaissance rune mystic Johannes Bureus and his Adul rune, about whom Edred Thorson has written a short essay. T. Karlsson does, however, give you a more profound view into the subject and it is interesting reading indeed!

I give this book my warmest recommendations! You'll get it via Amazon.co.uk.

Can't personally get behind that whole "uthark" thing, whether put forth by Karlsson or Meadows, but differing points of view & friendly, spirited discussions are always welcome here.

Welcome aboard! :viking:

basic idea: Uruz is the first rune in the rune row, Fehu is the last...

Haha. There are many who mistrust the Uthark because its lack of historical evidence. It's the same with me :bigblue: , however I think Karlsson has some interesting thoughts though. I mailed him some questions by the way(seems like a very knowledgeable and friendly lad) and according to him the idea of writing the book was the result of a number of seminars about the Uthark where the participators, and Karlsson of course, found some points and correspondences that they thought should be brought to light. He doesn't see himself as an "ambassador" for the Uthark and there might be a chance of a Futhark book in the future. That would be nice although Thorson has written neatly about it already.
