how many here use mantras? i just read "the yoga of sound" by russil paul for my class (rhythmic meditations @ the evergreen state college in WA), and i'm starting to combine my usual meditation and affirmations with mantras. i was just wondering if anyone else here has read the book or has some interesting ideas and thoughts and stories to share.

namaste,

I've used mantras some... but not a lot. I've found that they work best for me as an affirmation meditation.. using mala beads or similar and repeating 'sleflessness' or something similar.

No stories though.... sorry...

The most recent issue of Circle Magazine (you can order a copy here (http://www.circlesanctuary.org/circle/)) was all about using sound in Pagan ritual.

I've got an article in there too -- "Using Chant in Wiccan Rituals."

I became interested in mantra meditation while living in Woodstock, NY. Everyone chants there, it seems, regardless of faith. I have a set of beads given to me by the guy I dated there, and use them often.
