I was taking a nap yesterday afternoon and I had the strangest dream.

*****

I was walking in what looked like a temple. The walls had tablets attached to them and all of the tablets had egyptian markings on them. I'm not sure what led to me being there, or what I was looking for. I physically felt troubled or worried.

Suddenly the walls began to crumble and the tablets started crashing to the ground and breaking. I started running and eventually I got to the entrance of the temple. But before I could run out, the whole place came down on top of me. Only I wasn't crushed by it, and then out of no where there was a loud voice (I suppose I would liken it to what a God's voice would sound like), "Why are you here? You can't find me here." And I answer, "Who are you?" And then the voice sounded a bit angry or peeved, "You know who I am!"

Next thing I know a huge wave washes me away and I physically feel like I'm tumbling under the waves. Every now and then I would come to the surface and there would be a watery face of a man frowning at me. For a while I can't breathe and I was struggling to wake myself up. And just when I thought I was awake...I actually wasn't....and had to wake myself up again. I suppose it was like a dream within a dream...

****

It was really unnerving. Any thoughts?

Are you a spiritual seeker, perhaps changing or opening to new thoughts of what spirituality means to you personally?

Were you ever surrounded by those with a dogmatic, tight, rigid approach to religion ?

Are you following your own heart and conscience or trying to fit into a spiritual system that doesn't feel exactly right to you?

Do you feel like you are drowning in a patriarchal home/society/marriage ?

Did this dream stay with you all day? What do you think it means? It's for you really, no one knows like you do. Who or what is trying to get throgh to you?

Are you going down a path that others are warning you not to but you are stubbornly refusing to listen?

Wow interesting dreams. I love to read about other people's dreams. I have some pretty scary ones too. I don't have insight to your dream but just wanted to say that it sounds like it means something :fishtank:

Actually yes. I've only been a practicing pagan for almost 6 months now. I'm coming off a long term Christian commitment. Didn't work out the way I would have hoped, and so now I'm working on finding a place I belong.

My ex boyfriend was highly fundamentalist. He, along with my grandmother, are very rigid in their approach to religion. It's difficult to talk to them because of it.

Are you following your own heart and conscience or trying to fit into a spiritual system that doesn't feel exactly right to you?

I haven't actually found "the right fit." But I have not assigned myself any labels either. I figure I will always be a spiritual student. Hopefully I'll find a place for myself sooner than later.

Do you feel like you are drowning in a patriarchal home/society/marriage ?

Quite often. My social life is decently solid. It's personal stress that usually leaves me floundering. The dreams I have of this kind usually involve me struggling for breath and uncontrolled waters. I love water to death, so it's always disconcerting that the one thing I love the most seems to be out to get me in my dreams. Like I can't find peace there.

Did this dream stay with you all day? What do you think it means? It's for you really, no one knows like you do. Who or what is trying to get throgh to you?

I couldn't stop thinking about it, which is why I posted it here hoping to gain insight on it. It was really difficult to get back to sleep afterwards because of it.

I'm not sure who is speaking to me through this dream...but I also feel like it's not the first time. I'm more than certain it will happen again, I've had three variation of the same dream over the past two months or so.

Are you going down a path that others are warning you not to but you are stubbornly refusing to listen?

The only people that speak ill of the path I walk are those who do not understand it. All of my friends and my current SO are behind me 110%. I feel like I'm in the right place to finally find a fit for me. I haven't felt that way about anything else. So I'm confident I'm making the right choice...
