Macha

Other names: Mania, Mana, Mene, Minne.

Macha is an old Celtic warrior goddess, the queen of Ulster who gave her name to its ancient capital, Emain Macha (meaning “the Jewel of Macha”).

The Goddess of cunning, death, physical force, protector in both battle and peace. Known as Crow, Queen of Phantoms, and the Mother of Life and Death, she was honored at Lunasa. She is also known to be linked with war, horses and kingship
She is often seen as an aspect of a triple goddess. Many Writtings and people see this goddess as the Mórrígan (Great Queen), with the three aspects being Macha, the Badb and Nemain.

On the other hand though the three aspects may be the Mórrígan, Macha and the Badb. Links have also suggested a relationship to the horse goddess Epona and the Rhiannon, who is associated with horses.
According to Seathrún Céitinn she was worshipped by Banba, with whom she may be seen as equivalent.
There are several figures called Macha in Irish myths, more than likely to of derived from the same goddess. She is one of five War related goddesses of the Irish, collectively known as the 'Badb'.They’re names being Fea the Hateful, Nemhain the Venomous, Badb the Fury, Macha and the Morrigan.

Macha of the Tuatha Dé Danann, daughter of Ernmas, and sister of the Mórrígan and the Badb. All three took part in the second battle of Magh Tuiredh against the Fomorians. It was also the Morrigan and Macha who aided the Tuatha De Dananns when they came to Eire (Ireland) to fight against the Fir Bolgs, conjuring mists and sending showers of fire and blood .
