View Full Version : Frequent Suits?

In the readings I have been doing I find that there are a good number of cards that are all in one suit. I know this is not a shuffling problem, as I never order my cards in to suits after readings. This evening I did a reading and over half of the cards were cups. Last week my reading had more than half being major rather than minor. The spreads usually have 10-12 cards, so as far as I'm concerned that's a good amount of cards! I know the individual card meanings, but I figured that this would have some other significants. Could someone give me the meaning of each of the following:
most cards being of spears, most cards being cups, etc.
Most cards being major

Thanks for your time and help, Mina

Yup, each suit has some meaning too, depending on the deck and person.

For instance, cups usually mean water, emotion, spirituality, femininity, change, etc.

Swords - fire, conflict, strength, masculinity, the God.

Wands - air, intelligence, wisdom, creativity, magick.

Pents/Coins - earth, prosperity, solid base, wisdom, money.

Each of these suits as a major presence can indicate certain things - for instance if someone wants a reading and when you do it you find lots of pents you might think that money is a big issue in his or her relationship problems.

I find if there are a lot of major arcana then the issue is very important in the person's mind or surrounding cards suggest very important parts of the issue.

Just some things to think about :)

Okay.....spread with a majority of:

Cups: Reading is related to Love/Relationships
Pentacles: Finances/money
Swords: Conflicts/challenges/strife
Wands: Career/Ambitions
Major Arcana: Major lessons....really listen to these type of readings....spirituality/Path information. Big changes.

WOW!

That is so interesting!

There always seem to be alot of majors or a lot of court cards that come up in my individual readings

And I've wondered about this myself, I knew they were really shuffled good, cause sometimes I just sit and shuffle...

So glad this thread is here!

As for major arcana, I have also found that some choose to translate the major arcana as the "cause" of something in life and the suit cards as the "effect" of the major arcana cards.
