I've seen a massage technique where heated stones are placed on parts of the body and I was wondering...

How are the stones heated?
Are particular types of stones better than others?
Are they just good on the chakras or anywhere?

I'd be interested in trying this myself if anyone has any tips. Thanks :flowers:

Stone massage involves the application of water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body, giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage.

The treatment I received and loved best was with dark grey smooth river rocks (?) that the practioner had selected from the river herself.... with each one she thanked the river for smoothing the stone and blessed each stone with sun air and water..... She heated them in an old electic turkey roasting pan filled with water and set the thermostat on the pan for even temp. What really felt soooooo goood to me were the small smooth stones between my fingers and toes... This practioner DID GOOD WORK~!!!!~ The other stones were placed over my heart ...she was very careful to keep stones light weight enuff...oval thin and flat most times. I guess you have to discover a really swift area of a rocky river~??~ Duh... sorry I can't tell you more. Most stones went over major large smooth muscle groups... thighs... behind knees.. etc.etc. sometimes they were wrapped in soft flannel squares. Hope this gives a little info... :tub: :loveduv:
