I read in The Element Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells that San Domano was an Italian Patron Saint of Epilepsy. I have Googled and Googled but have had a hard time finding references that aren't "Hotel San Domano" or some such.

Thing is, someone very, very close to me has epilepsy and is on medication, but I really want to exhuast all possible resources I come across, as the seizures still happen.

Because I will not enter into any sort of metaphysical relationship without thorough research, plus the fact that I'm neither Catholic, Christian nor Italian, I'm appealing to you all for help of any sort you can give - advice, experience, web sites, books, anything to help me out in determining if it might be ok to appeal to San Domano for help for this situation. If it's completely inappropriate, it's ok - I just want to check out the options.

Hello DandelionDame.
Respectfully, I never heard of him. For things like this you pray to Santa Lucia. Lucy in English. She's the one with her eyes on a platter because they were pulled out on account of her faith. Hold a Saint's feast in her honor. You take your picture of Lucia and place it above a table, where you serve wine, pasta, meats, pizzelles, cannoli and zeppoli, whatever the Saint likes, have your local priest bless it. The town must be invited, which means you have to take out an ad in your local paper, OR, tell your friends and family ahead of time. (It's a communal thing.)
Good luck.

I never heard of St. Lucia for epilepsy, but I wouldn't immediately rule her out.

There's a good list of possible candidates here:

Check each of the Saint's stories and see which one best approaches your friend's situation.

There are some epileptics that continue to have seizures despite having adequate blood levels of the medications. It's also not unusual for folks to go off their meds because of unpleasant side effects, even though the seizures themselves are even less pleasant. Thing about the seizures, though is that they only happen once and a while, and the side effect is with you every day.

Thank you very much, TYRRHENUS and wolf for the information - your posts are wonderfully informative and have given me much to consider. I'm pretty ill-informed about Saints, so this is great insight. Very much appreciated!
