Do your kids have more than they can play with or just enough to do till they grow out of them?
Do they ignore their toys and bug you instead?
How do you keep yours organized and not all over the house?
Do your kids pick up their own toys or do you?
What do you do with old or broken toys; fix, give away, garbage?
Any rules you have?

Hmmm lots of questions. :)
If you saw my son's play area you would think that he has way more toys than he could possibly play with. He does play with them all from time to time, though. He still plays with his little baby toys, so I haven't put them away yet, though I keep thinking that I probably should.
If he gets bored with his toys then he'll bug me, he goes through stages. Usually it's when he wants me to sit down and play with him.
My son has his toy area in our family room. It's the family room so I don't mind toys scattered all over it, but they get cleaned up once a week. 30 seconds after they're cleaned up, though, he has to dump them all out again. He also has a few select toys (maybe ten) that are his "upstairs toys" that I keep in a box in the living room, for him to play with when I'm making dinner. They usually get picked up at the end of the day.
He does help, sort of if I ask him to put a toy away. He's just as likely to take it out again after he's put it away, but he's only 18 months. He does put all his bath toys away though.
Havent run across it yet. I imagine I'll just throw broken toys away....
Hmmm no rules that I can think of.

Great questions. Our kids do have a lot of toys and for the most part they take pretty good care of their things. Trey needs to be reminded about certain things, like putting CD's back in cases rather than laying around his desk but with other thigns he is meticulous. Of course he is older.
The girls have a wide selection of toys. They are so close in age that most of their toys overlap. When buying presents for them we keep them both in mind. At this point we really don't even keep up with whether the blinkie light butterfly toy was for Maci or Trinity...whoever it pleases at the time is fine with me! That said, toddler and infant toys fascinate my almost nine year old at times!
There are days when, no matter what type of toys and fancy blinky, noisy, smart toys there are availiable, they want you. They are often even overstimulated by excessive amounts of toy options. Some of my girls' favorite past times have nothing at all to do with any fisher price toy genius mind. For instance the big windows of the living room, they like to get in there and walk along the edge (about four inches off the floor). Sometimes they take turns standing at the top of the little slide, rarely ever wanting to slide, but to possess the top spot.
We occassionally go through the toy box and discard broken or missing pieces of things, like the happy meal toys that seem to multiply in the dark. We toss those things all the time. Trey hands down a lot of his toys to the girls. Some things we keep put up, such as the leap pads and only get them down to play with them...they would destroy it otherwise. Amvet donations for the rest generally.

My son has lots of toys. All hand me downs. He got some news ones for x-mass from some nice doners on MW :hearteyes
Do they ignore their toys and bug you instead?
Sometimes. My son plays with his toys too. He likes it more when were in his room playing cars with him!
How do you keep yours organized and not all over the house?
My mom bought my son a plastic bin with a lid and that is where they are kept in his room.
Do your kids pick up their own toys or do you?
Both.
What do you do will old or broken toys; fix, give away, garbage?
If they can be fixed, I will fix it. other wise I throw them out. I wont give broken toys to another child. Thats just dangerous!
Any rules you have?
Yep. My son is not allowed to bang his toys off the tables or throw them at people. I tell him " if you cant play nice with your toys mommy is going to put them away"

Probably more than they need but of course their grandparents spoil them rotten so some I put away to give as special rewards...
Do they ignore their toys and bug you instead?
Sometimes. There are times when they simply want mommy's full attention.
How do you keep yours organized and not all over the house?
They have a toybox in their room and one in the sunroom. Bedroom toys stay in the bedroom, sunroom toys stay in the sunroom.
Do your kids pick up their own toys or do you?
For the most part it is their responsibilty to pick up. If we're having company then I will help,,,note I said "help", not do it all for them...
What do you do will old or broken toys; fix, give away, garbage?
If a toy can be fixed we'll fix it. When they outgrow or tire of toys we donate them..
Any rules you have?
Toys are not to be scattered all over the house, they
re limited to the kids room and sunroom. If you make a mess, you clean it up. There is no throwing of anything in the house and balls are for outdoors.

In the fall, when they start playing indoors again and before the holidays and their birthdays, we go through and give away a lot of toys. I throw out broken ones as I find them and I often get rid of toys if left around for me to pick up too many times. I try to make a point of having a place for every toy when it comes into the house so that when I say put it away there is a place to do that. I dont like a lot of toys out because I think its overwhelming to them to be surrounded by so many things. Their art supplies MUST stay in their studio and any workbooks and such left on the table by supper gets pushed into their place at the table so they cant eat until they clean it up.
I try to limit toys that can only be played with one way. I prefer legos and wooden blocks, k'nex, art supplies and of course lots of games and puzzles.

Do your kids have more than they can play with or just enough to do till they grow out of them?
Typically just enough. Because after Christmas and birthdays (when the largest amount of toys seem to arrive) we make the kids clean out their existing supply to fit the new ones in.
Do they ignore their toys and bug you instead?
My 22 mo old son does, but the older kids (7, 8, 9) tend to like thier toys better than me. :p
How do you keep yours organized and not all over the house?
Each child has a little plastic 3-drawer bin in thier room for toys and a small book shelf. The baby has open boxes/bins that sit on the floor. All toys not being played with are stored in these bins. Also, there is a dedicated play room. Toys are not allowed outside the bedrooms and playroom...we are still working on this with the baby.
Do your kids pick up their own toys or do you?
The old kids pick up their own. We are "training" the baby to pick his up, so as long as someone else is picking up with him, he will clean up his own mess...but you have to help and remind him.
What do you do with old or broken toys; fix, give away, garbage?
Broken toys get thrown away. Unless it's like a leg of a doll or something, we may fix it.
Any rules you have?
Like I said before, toys only allowed in bedrooms and the play room. Any toys not currently in use must be put away and you pick up after yourself.

1. A bit more than they can play with, but I rotate toys every 6 months or so. Some get packed, some stay out. In 6 months, I swap them.
2. Yes. Constantly. I don't know why I bother with the toys at all.
3. Big plastic bins. And a rule- if it's on the floor after bedtime, it's mine.
4. Yes. See #3. If they don' t pick it up at the end of the day, it's outta here. Sounds harsh but it's the only way to get them to put the bloody toys up.
5. Old- goodwill, yard sale, or ebay. broken- garbage.
Rules are if you get it out, you put it up. Everyone does a communal clean up at the end of the day. If it's on the floor and small enough to get sucked up in the vacuum, it's fair game. Ooooh how they dislike that. We have a play room, specifically for keeping the toys in, and it doesn't get vac'ed :) So they small stuff should be in there.
Every 6 months or before gift-giving occasions, we do a purge. Out with the old to make way for the new. I also request that family NOT buy toys. If they did, they'd buy every screaming pink piece of plastic crap on earth. I do the toy shopping, and they buy books :)
