Rhiannon, Celtic Goddess of Inspiration and the Moon

Rhiannon, the Celtic goddess of the moon was a Welch goddess. The goddess Rhiannon's name meant 'Divine Queen' of the fairies. In her myths, Rhiannon was promised in marriage to an older man she found repugnant. Defying her family's wishes that Rhiannon, like other Celtic goddesses, declined to marry one of her "own kind".

Major snippage by Xentor. See the rest of the article here:
http://www.goddessgift.com/goddess-myths/celtic_goddess_Rhiannon.htm

The story of the Celtic goddess Rhiannon reminds us of the healing power of humor, tears, and forgiveness. The goddess Rhiannon is a goddess of movement and change who remains steadfast, comforting us in times of crisis and of loss.

Just in case you missed it.....

It's Welsh....not Welch.

Welsh is a culture/country. Welch is a company that makes juices.

You would be better telling that to the original author of the article :T

Yes, its full of errors. Again, tell that to the author of the site it was copied from...

For those interested in Rhiannon there are several threads here on MW with good information. And I would also mention

didn't want to overwhelm you

but it seems that one story blew your mind enough, so i wont continue.

if you think Rhiannon is a goddess of puppies and dragons
you're a total idiot

god you guys are so dumb and tore back here

Rhiannon is just an archetype of a mother who's lost her baby

all you've shown is you have no respect for human life

lol

you think you look smart by pointing out flaws in the story
but you really just look like an idiot
to someone smart like me anyway

well im sure EVERYBODY reading this thread now thinks you a total muppet. I didnt say i though she was a goddess of puppies... try READING my posts and you will see i specifically pointed out i thought it was crap - and again if you try READIING it you will see everybody agree.

your fitful giggling aside - perhaps you should try calming down - id be very interested to hear your 'loads' of rhiannon stories - im willing to bet most of them are rubbish and have been made up by someone who wouldnt know welsh mytholgy if it jumped up and pissed in their face. !

go on, blow us away... i dare you.

so, she is the archetype of the mother who has lost her son then eh? could you explain, in that context of course her role in the story of manawyddan ap llyr ?

but you really just look like an idiot

<sarcasm>

of course, well from your past two posts, im certainly scared by your astounding intellect

</sarcasm.

this place is so repugnant, god

then you are more than welcome to go away...unless you want to stun us all with your amazing intellect and knowledge.

fire away... your inferiors await with baited breath.

Miss Goody Two Shoes...If you weren't so quick to jump on the defensive you would actually realise that we were commenting on the original author of the story-not you. No one on this board had any words of disrespect for yourself-that is, until you started throwing accusations and insults left and right.
You clearly have not looked around on any of the other boards much, because if you did you would know that discussion is a major part of MW. Because some do not agree with the content posted (which, incidently, you didn't write anyway) they have every right to comment on it, which Ancestral_Lee and many other posters did.
If you are too sensitive and can't handle criticism, don't post.
I think Gods and Goddesses are the most likely to be accompanied by discussion and debate (sometimes heated).
Everyone has a different view/understanding of the Gods and their stories (including their interpretation), and that means that there is going to be some disagreeing.
Thats no reason to get defensive and testy. :gagged:

I haven't been as active on MW as I used to be, but I just HAD to come out of lurker mode to respond to this.

Someone smart like you, you say? Just what is so smart about copy and pasting innacurate information and then growing offended when those incorrect statements are pointed out. By the way, they were pointed out in the spirit of discussion.

It's plagiarism. Do you not get that? And it's the worst kind of plagiarism because you are spreading incorrect info. It's quite sad, really.

MysticWicks is not repugnant as you said and I'm sorry that that's your first impression, but you have to admit that you brought it on yourself by not familiarizing yourself with the boards before you chose to post copied material. A simple search on the Gods and Goddesses boards would have shown you there have been several interesteing discussions on Demeter and Persephone as well as Rhiannon.

Now, that being said, welcome to MW. I think you truly will enjoy it here, just start sharing your own knowledge and experiences instead of copying someone else's website.

sorry...did someone say plagiarism?

yea, i see you're point
and that is my fault

by skimming thru the board
and digesting the name 'MysticWicks pagans'
i figured you guys preferred the mambi pambi cut and paste jobs

i've yet to read something that says "this person truly worships pagan gods"
reading articles and books about rhiannon is not the same as worshipping her

i'd like this thread to be deleted or archived
it serves no purpose now except to blaspheme the goddess

sorry for my "plagerism"
most message boards don't give a shit.
and technically, quoting pieces of religious stories by unknown authors is not plagerism.

but actually, i hate cut and paste jobs myself, and i'm glad to see you don't accept that here, that is kinda nice.

had i thought anyone here actually knew who rhiannon was, or cared in the least, i would've given my own personal experiences with the goddess (i have lost a baby myself).
i was slowly trying to introduce this in my own way.
but no big deal, rhiannon is only one tiny part of my great work.

Did you verify that the author was unkown before you copied it? You took it from a website! Did you take the time to email the site owner to ASK if the author was unkown? Why did you assume that the site owner didn't write it?

The problem is that you admittedly "skimmed" this board and made assumptions about MW. The majority of people here worship Pagan Gods and Goddesses. You're right, most message boards don't care about copy and paste jobs, but Mystic Wicks is a community with integrity.

we have alot to offer each other.
i'm going to say "i'm sorry if i misjudged the situation"
i will try again.

does this structure have enough integrity to withstand the force of the miracles i work online?
that would be great if it's true.
my magical endeavor is a time investment and disappointment is not a healthy option.

this thread is offtopic, it's derailed, and i began it, so please, just delete it or archive it. later if the rhiannon comes up, we can go from there.

also, i had my preferences set so i only saw 2-3 pages, had i known a thread on rhiannon already existed, i would've posted there.
i was under the impression it wasn't discussed yet, my mistake,
anyways, i've fixed my preferences now, so i won't make it again.

Its easy to think "what's the point" but I have been pleasantly surprised in the past by website owners being responsive to requests for corrections, especially when backed by references.

so basically what you are saying is "respect my authority"

i admitted my mistake, that is respect.

what is disrespectful is allowing rhiannon to be blasphemed, but if you feel that will serve as some kind of lesson to someone, that's your business i guess.

Hmm. I must not have been clear enough. I meant to say that someone else might learn from your mistakes in this thread, so they will actually read the FAQ before posting, and perhaps even refrain from offending people who question the content of the posts.
