Could anyone recommend any books about tarot and learning how to use it? Something more geared towards beginners. Thanks!

Tarot for Teens by MJ Abadie is a really good book. not only does she go over what each card means, she also includes some astrology and numerology and stuff... its pretty cool...

I've recommended this book before and i'll recommend it again. Step-by-Step tarot by Terry Donaldson. I looooved this book, it has some great techniques in learning each card. It's my favourite anyways :)

Tarot Plain and Simple (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1567184006/qid=1114888920/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/103-4016860-6077407?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) explains things very well, and is illustrated with the Robin Wood Tarot.
I've got a lot of books, but this is the one that I use most often as a reference.
I also try to buy the large format, expanded versions of the LWB that come with the decks. There's often a lot of good, additional insights provided.

I third that. Tarot: Plain and Simple by Anthony Louis is a gem of a book. And 78 Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack is the tarot reader's bible. Although, be aware, 78 Degrees takes a far more sophisticated and intellectual approach. But both books are wonderful. I also like Tarot for a New Generation by Janina Renee, as well as Tarot: Your Everyday Guide by Janina Renee.

The Complete Book of Tarot Reversals is by Mary K. Greer and I always recommend it as one of the only books on tarot that you'll ever need. :)
The book is not all about reversals. It gives an upright and reversed interpretation of each card and I've found that some of the additional perspectives on the cards that are provided have been very insightful. She not only looks at the traditional meaning of each card, but also from a shamanistic view, a healthwise view and others as well.
This book will get you through your beginner phase and you will still find it useful as an expert. :)

Learning the Tarot by Joan Bunning I think is a good book. Tarot Plain and Simple is a good one too.
Also, Tarot for a New Generation, and Tarot for Today are two books I like.

Learning the Tarot by Joan Bunning I think is a good book.
If you don't mind reading online, Joan Bunning's book is available for free as a website at LearnTarot.com (http://www.learntarot.com).

Right now I am using several different books. I find them all useful in their own ways. I too am a beginner and am now trying to learn all there is to know about each card, the elements, astrological signs, numerology of the cards, etc. These are the books that I am currently using:
Learning the Tarot by Joan Bunning
The Complete Book of Tarot Spreads by Evelin Burger & Johannes Fiebig
Mastering the Tarot by Eden Gray
How To: Use Tarot Spreads by Sylvia Abraham
Tarot Made Easy by Nancy Garen
Complete Idiots Guide to Tarot by Arlene Tognetti and Lisa Lenard
I just picked up the Complete Idiot's Guide today and aside from the name....its a great book, very informative!
As someone mentioned before...you can read the Learning the Tarot by Joan Bunning online for free...wish I'd have known this before I went out and spent $20 on it! But it is a good book to have right at your fingertips...
For a complete beginner (as I am..) I would recommend the Idiot's Guide, Learning the tarot, or Tarot made easy.
...There is also a Tarot For Yourself Workbook by Mary Greer that I am going to get soon. It helps you familiarize yourself with the cards and gets your Inner Guide in tune with you.
Hope this was helpful!
