What are patron gods and godesses?

What are they, and how can i find one. And do you know anywhere where I can go to find info and names of gods and godesses? Thanks! :thewave:

Well, quite simply put, Patron gods are the Lords or Ladies of your personal Pantheon, or the sole Gods you worship. Patrons are those you feel more affinity with, and who hold a dominant osition within your life, or your coven. For example, a personal Goddess may take a second seat to a Coven's Patron Goddess. I'll just give you an example, Kali, the Hindu Goddess of destruction, holds the dominant role in my relief system right now, she is the most familiar Goddess, as well as in my eyes right now the most powerful in my life. How you come about finding your atron Goddess can be many ways...with Kali, it was my interaction with a friend who worships her. There are many great books, as well as general websites. When the time coems for you to know who you have chosen, or who has chosen you, you will know. How to coem about this is to first look into different cultures, look at their Gods and their belief systems. If your own belief system relates with that Goddess or God, then start looking into the major or perhaps even the minor Gods. Learn the major legends and symbolism associated with the Godds and then make a decision based on that. One good website, although to be honest not my favourite, is...God Checker (http://www.godchecker.com)...just to give you a good start. There is also a great website called...www.google.com...im sure if you place a name in there you will get lots of information. Namaste :).

This website has info on gods from all different cultures. I think it would be a good place to start looking at different gods, but in the end its up to you to figure out who fits best into your life.
