Do you Believe in Astrology?

However, I openly caveat that I have never studied the topic nor had anyone close to me who claimed to be a competent practitioner. So I am willing to admit my disbelief is as much from ignorance as any other factor.

And, I would never tell anyone who uses astrology or consults an astrologist that their beliefs are misplaced.

Yes and no. I don't see how it works, or why it works. I'm very pragmatic, so if I can't develop a reasonable grasp of why something happens to work, I tend to be skeptical. But then again, I know so many people who seem to fit their astrological profiles to a tee. I dunno, I'm on the fence.

But...I believe tarot works. Using it has convinced me that it makes an incredible tool for tapping into the intuition. Call it synchronicity or "the collective unconscious."

I believe it works. I haven't done astrology for myself or others. But i know enough to know that it does explain people well. I think most only look at the sun sign and if it doesn't fit that well then they think it doesn't work. But astrology is so much more complex.

For the most part, yes. I've talked to people who say they don't believe in it then read information on their sun sign and realize they fit the description near exactly. In dealing with other things, I do believe that it works.

For the most part I do. Sometimes I feel a bit sceptical about it, but I've seen my birth chart and it explains quite a lot about me that is actually true. I'm on the cusp of Virgo and Libra. :)

When talking charts it depends on what kind. If it is the four-liner out of a magazine or newspaper, I don't give two cents for it. But if it is one made personally for a person, then there might be something to it. But I must admit, that I am fairly sceptical of astrology...

As a professional astrologer (not my paying job) I will say it does depend on what kind of chart you get done. If you're just going by your Sun Sign in the newspaper, then yeah, don't expect much clarity. But if you get a full natal chart done (outside of a computer), then it's much more accurate.

I guess I believe in it to a certain extent, but it's never worked for me. (I'm a Virgo, by the way.) I had a chart done for me twice, and it hasn't been accurate either time. In fact, both charts were filled with lots of contradictions... I guess I was just born at a strange time?

Sure... why wouldn't the position of the universe at your time of birth have some kind of lasting impact?

However, I also think that the events in your life have *just* as much influence. So, it's a toss-up. :p

That, and I've had more than one buddy who's chart was perfect - when they moved forward or back a day. Born at the wrong time, eh? :lol:

Yeah I definately think that the star signs are accurate. I am a true piscean (Sp?) and my family are the stereotype of their signs too.

Oooh, I forgot to add... I am not a fan of these horoscope phone lines. They are usually really general and things that are so ambiguous no-one has to think too hard to make their own lives fit what they are saying.

I don't believe in astrology, becuase I don't like the idea that our lives are predestinated by something else that aren't our actions and decisions.

I look at it like any divination, it's just a possibility & not carved in stone. I don't believe in the predestination thing either.

Well, to a certain extent I do, I don't actually believe that crap in the magazines (if anyone is from Montreal, you should read the 24 heures mag you get free in the metro, it's hilarious!!! :lol: ). Like Seapearls mentioned, I don't believe anything is carved in stone, though I do believe that sometimes some things are meant to happen to you, that some people are meant to cross your path and that wether you want it or not, they will one way or another, but not for everything. To me, if astrology tells you that you're gonna have a bad day because Jupiter is in the 3rd house (I've no idea what the hell that means...), it won't necessairly happen, it depends on a lot more factors than how the planets and stars are placed in the sky.

I do believe in it, but I don't believe that our day to day lives are ruled by it. It is uncannily accurate sometimes though! I am Cancer, Scorpio rising and I must say, I am every bit of it!!

I do believe myself. After studying my Sun sign, antecedent and moon, it pretty much fits me. I'm such a Virgo!!! The others I can see in myself as well. My hubby and daughter both fit their signs as well
