okay today I thought I'd make a topic question for the Pagans who are not quite sure how to release thier negative...or any unneeded energies they have built up.And to those who do I ask of you to put in your suggestions too.

How I do it...
my way of releasing negative energy is to do artwork....any style and any medium will do. Though I i usually just draw whatever comes to mind, currently I have picked up the hobby of Chinese Brush Painting and Asian choligraphy.

So what do you do?

I'll put my energy excess into my music... but generally when I'm working with energy I will exchange it with the universe. No build-up of negative energy in me, thank you.

How?

I open up my heart chakra to form a vortex to the universe. It looks like a giant tornado, reaching up to the universe. With each breath, I breathe in positive energy from the universe, and I breathe out the negative to the universe, where it will be cleansed by, amongst other things, the power of the storm. Like a universal laundry machine ;)

Wow! That's pretty interesting. It's like exchanging carbon dioxide for oxygen. I like it. Spiritual/energy resperations.

If I happen to have *that* much built up stress energy (rare), I dance around like a moron when I'm certain nobody's looking. Works pretty well for me.

When I am trying to get myself mentally prepared for a ritual or prayer or just want toground.. I do visualization. I visualize my toes are deep into the earth and it holds me steady, then I do deep breathing..with every inhale I see allthe positive energy from the earth flow frommy roots (feet) up to the top of my head.. once the positive energy is there I exhale and see all the negative energy drain from my head thru my roots to the earth and disapate. Positive energy is white and negative black.. I know Iknow sounds cliche but it's what works.. when Ifeel empty of negative I can comence my working or whatever..

hope this helped

I overeat, spend too much time on the computer, grumble about how stupid other people are, and "accidentally" break things, then I realize what is going on...I ground myself using visualization (as described so nicely by earlier poster), do some cleansing breaths, take inventory of my life (hey! not half bad) have sex, and snap the rubber band on my wrist when I start snarking again.

Usually some yard work and time with the livestock helps, or teaching, that helps because the negatives get overwhelmed by the positives.

I just normally yell as loud as I can, go work in my garden and then go and take a ritual bath and try to leave the rest of the excess energy in the water, then I watch it go down the drain!

I like to bake, especially bread as you can get rid of a lot of energy kneading it. Plus you get something tasty for all that work at the end of it.

However if that is not possible I like to pick up a stone and tell it why i am angry/sad/upset and then once all those energies are in the stone I throw it as far away as possible. often into a pond or lake but sometimes just deep into the woods. It really helps to clear away negativity.

I take a few breaths: exhaling grey colour, inhaling white one. Easy, quick and works wonders :)

When I'm really stressed/feeling negative I'm also generally feeling very disconnected from the world so I take a moment to breathe deeply and ground. Doing this outside when possible is especially nice. I can then get a better grip on what is wrong and how to fix it or get my work done.

I do something along these lines, only I inhale I visualize white, sparkling, smoky energy then exhale dirty, smoggy, and black energy.

go work in my garden

That's what I like to do, but in the winter months I meditate.

There's lots of different things I do:

-chop firewood
-write down all my frustrations and then burn them
-creative writing
-play music
-go for a long walk
-get a massage
-come to MW and rant
-find someone else who is stressed out and try to help them
-take a bath
-go outside and scream
-make another kilt

With all these hobbies, you think I'd be more relaxed...
