gem stone and crystal magick

i was wondering what everyones favorite stones were, which ones give you the best results in magick, healing etc. my favorites would have to be amathyst, moonstone, rose quartz and bloodstone.

Clear quartz - it's the easiest of them all to program, and can hold a program indefinitely. Besides, they innately FEEL good!:D

I can't use amethyst, though I love it. I have the uncanny ability to reverse the aging process in the stone, so I can't be around it much. :p It's interesting to see! Ever seen a rock that looked made out of Rubbermaid?:eek:

I use stones mostly for healing. Quartz is universal... good for most anything. I also use citrine, amethyst, mahogany obsidian, Apache tears, aqua aura, & a flourite tetrahedron. And a tuning fork, & a feather (but these are obviously not stones :D ).

My favorite stone is Hemitite I have a Hemitite ring and a regular stone,I usually use it for protection,and grounding.
My secound fav is my moonstone,acctually I just got it and haven't
been able to use it yet but I can feel the emence energy wanting to escape.........

I like Dumortierite. It helps in easing depression, which I'm prone to sometimes.

Fluorite is one of my favourite crystals. At the moment I use one for dream recall (don't know if I've ever heard of fluorite being used for dream recall but it works for me) and it's extremely good.

Hmm, I didn't know that about Fluorite, that's interesting. I like clear Quartz lately, plus jasper and jade are favorites of mine. Amethyst can be good for tarot, and I've got a special liking for anything blue. I hope to get an Opal ring one of these days, and a bigger piece of Moonstone (moonstone is my girlfriend's favorite I think)

Yeah, Rose Quartz gives me that nice happy feeling whenever I carry a piece with me.

I like amethyst, and Garnet makes me feel really good. I also like Lapis, and aquamarine. Sodalite feels good to me, too.

Hey!! I really like gemstones and I have quite a few but I was wondering what uses they have in rituals and spells other than for healing and how they might be used? Could anyone inform me?

You can use them to help you focus energy - for example picking an amethyst to help you meditate, or picking a coloured gemstone for your purpose (ie. citrine for friendships in a friendship spell), etc. You can also store information and energy in them by charging them - ie. visualizing that energy or information streaming into them, etc.

You do what??? I'm just curious what you mean by reversing the aging process of the stone. I've never heard of that before, so I'm VERY curious. If we ever meet, I'll remember not to wear any amethyst around you.:eek:

I have a friend that I have to keep away from my flourite, or it will fade out.

I love amethyst, I love to work with it. I also love to work with clear quartz, rose quartz, obsidian, herkimer diamonds, moonstone, garnet, lapis, azurite, citrine, emerald... I love stones in general!

I love amethyst. I wear it constantly. It's my favestone, though not my birthstone, that's pearl. I also like working with clear quartz and tiger's eye, another fave of mine. :D

I am and always have been hooked on stones. I have a lot but my favorites would have to be my chunk of herkimur diamond, purple sunstone, I have a nice lodestone oh wow, I can't name them all....... rose quartz is great for calming, and for divination. I have a piece of elestial I wouldn't trade for anything, I have some red and yellow carnelian which is a great root and sacral chakra stone.... I wear a flourite crystal with a silver design at the tip with a teardrop of amethist everywhere. I have a pair of earrings made from labradorite (spectrolite) which I wear a lot too. Sorry I'm just an old "stoner" and I get carried away.... Never met a rock I didn't like :)

when you know the stones capabilitiues well, then the stones do the magic for you. i am not very fond of people programming stones to their needs, because if you want to do this, do it with something that hasnt a set capabiolity already:

A stone knows why you need it, use it. You really should never try and programme a stone to do your will. I have always in doing stone/crystal healings, defered to the vibrations the stones give out to me. I will meditate on what would be a good one to use, but then it is the stone I let take over and do it's work.

At any rate: A Chinese woman was running a kiosk at the mall of handmade jewelry and polished gemstones. I knew I needed 7 stones to complete my Chakra reading and started looking at what she had. I picked up an onyx heart and laid it in the palm of my left hand. My daughter was with me and I explained I was leaving it there to see if I reacted. The onyx warmed up considerably, so I decided to take it. Then I saw a beautiful rose quartz heart, and did the same-it got hot! And when I said I would take those two and handed them over to the woman, she exclaimed how hot they felt to her-I apologized. :D
This happened in under 10 minutes-the reactions were immediate. But what I want to know is, a) is such an immediate reaction one to be expected and b) since I still need 5 stones and will probably go back to her kiosk, is there a 'time limit' to any reaction I may get? And, how do I tell a negative reaction vs a positive one? I assume my draw to these beautiful stones coupled with their heat was a positive, but she had many beautiful looking ones.
I now have both on a chain around my neck and the rose quartz will heat up, cool a bit, then heat up again. The onyx, not so much. (a good Wiccan friend said to kiss them to ground them and I think the onyx grounded, the quartz didn't??)
