There's no choice for "other".

;) I would have to fall under "other" as well.

There is a thread in Divination where we were discussing our divination tools, you might enjoy checking that out :)

I voted for tarot (does that include oracle decks as well?), because I have 3 decks (and will have 4 tonite, yay!). I also like using my runes and crystal ball on occasion, tho I don't know where my pendulum went, and sometimes I use a ouija board. :)

I don't read that often but when I do, I use tarot.

My vote was tarot but I also really like reading with the runes.

Out of interest ~ Can anyone read palms here? I cant but think it would be fun to have some discussions on palm reading.

I usually use either tarot cards or the i ching. I know , I know, youre not supposed to use the i ching for divination. But It has NEVER given me a vague reading, let alone a false one. It's always right on the money.

Tarot Tarot Tarot Tarot Tarot!!!!!!! Honestly, I can't make head or tail of runes-- my friend says that it's probably because i hate maths, though i don't quite see what that has to do with reading and understanding runes. Maybe it's a matter of logic. :(

Runes, runes, and more runes.... mind you I only made my first set of rune stones about a week ago... but I have been studying... using... and writing almost exclusivly in runes for the last year or so.

Tarot was my vote though I'm working on runes, and interested in palm reading. I've been trying to read the I ching forever but my western mindset can only seem to read them for meditaton.

I just seem to have to do things my own way... I just 'look' and I see far. I like the tarot art though, and I have several decks, but i dont bother to use them, I can see without them, so why wear glasses if my eyes work just fine? I like runes too, they are neat, but yet again i dont use them...

I use Tarot Cards.....the Elemental Tarot Card to be specific. I like them because of the pictures are detailed and they have Gods and Goddesses names on it.

When you understand the art of divination and what is happening, anything can be read. My favs are in order: Palmistry, Tarot, Body language, Events(dropping objects) Tea leaves, Crystals ball, smoke, dreams. Remember what happens in the microcosm happens in the macrocosm.

I voted pyromancy, but I think I use my tarot just as much! There is something about the flame, or Salamander, that feels right, and kinda clean(I dont get it either) to me! I am also looking into runes.. I love finding out new things but I always go back to the flame, or tarot. ( Word of warning, never use the 2 togather, my friend lost a good deck that way.. small fires love dry painted paper!)

I voted Pendulum. It was a choice between that, my Tarot and my new Runes. My Tarot is alittle miffed at me lately and won't give understandable readings very often.

Yes, you can and I actually figured out how to do that!.......mine has changed too. Worked with tarot for very long time, but feel much stronger connection with my runes. I just know stuff when I work with them, with tarot had to look it up most of the time.........

I voted tarot. I feel a really strong connection with them as a divination tool. The runes, I don't know if I could use them for divination. The set I made feels more like it should be used for magic instead. I'm still learning though.

I've had the best luck with bibliomancy. I learned (well technically discovered) it when I was 7, and its been a huge help. Its quicky, easy, and rather accurate.

I dont know why...i never really got into Tarot cards that much. Too lazy probably. :D

For me, the pendulum is really easy, and I've got some amazingly correct answers with it. I'm learning the tarot and runes and like them both. I do daily readings with them, but when I'm looking for a quick answer, I reach for my pendulum.

Omens are rapidly becoming crucial in my life, but usually the more readily controlled tarot and palm reading are my favorites to use.

Voted "other". I use ordinary playing cards. I've got this amazing book from my mom: "The Divination Book of the Gypsy Queen" (in Finnish). It's really old and dog-eared, and I like to think that it belonged to my great-grandma who was a gypsy. (Although I have a suspicion that Mom bought it from a second-hand bookstore when she was young...) It instructs how to see the future with ordinary cards, interpret dreams, etc.

Tarot has been intriguing me lately, so I might get into it eventually.

I'm not too crazy about omens, but my husband is always seeing them. It gets very tiring sometimes... ;-)

I, too, voted Tarot. I have several decks and a rune set. Though I love my runes and pendulum.. not to mention my black glass scrying mirror.. I'd have to say Tarot has my heart.

Dragon Tarot is the most-used one of me. :)

Agh.. I voted Runes before, but I've been using Tarot a lot lately and I seem to be pretty good at it. I feel like I should do this instead of Runes, so. I can't vote again, but if I could, it would be for Tarot! :D

Seems I'm the only one liking Ogham that much. Kinda strange... anyway, I never liked Tarot... seems to artificial. I need to work with natural materials, and sticks and stones (Runes and Ogham) are best in my opinion.

the one I use most often is the one I kinda came "packaged" with. . . 8O

I get visions and dreams often. . . but the most used tool, I would have to say, is tarot. Although I am beginning to learn the amazing runes.

I like geomancy...numbers are fun. ;) It is ironic that I even LIKE geomancy, considering my hatred for math. ;) hehe I would have to say that a close second favorite would be my aleph-bet cards and lastly would be my pendulum.

Even though I own several Tarot decks, a pendulum, Halliday's Awareness Cards , Zerner/Farber's Oracle of the Goddess, and Virtue's Healing with the Fairies, I had to vote "other," since I use Froud/MacBeth's Faeries' Oracle and Blair's Amulets of the Goddess much more than any other divination tools.

I have an especially tight bond with the Faeries' Oracle...

I'm stumped. Can I say all of 'em?

I love using all of my divination tools. I love finding new ways to work in divination. It's just facinating to no end.

I've done a variant of mirror scrying, but it was with the reflection of light off of a blade edge. You get some... interesting results with that. I've done something simmilar to drawing runes, but it was pulling different stones out of a bowl, that had no glyphs painted or engraved on them.

It's something that's fun and interesting. It helps me to control the moments where I have visions smack me across the back of the head with such force that I'm literally dropped into the scene to the point where I can taste, feel and smell things. The after effects of such a vision is usually intense nausea and a migraine. Some times, I'll feel rather cold too.

I use my tarot decks alot, they're the easiest to carry around. I have a scrying crystal and a crystal ball, and an obsidion ball... they all work well. The scrying crystal works better then the others. I've my pendulumn, my runes, my mirrors, my culdron, my ogham staves, and my stones. I haven't tried reading chicken bones or the bones of any thing else, though I can throw a handful of sticks and get something from that. Mom can read chicken bones, I'm not that interested in that form at the moment. I'm still a little leary of the idea, the only think I can think of is that the chicken is probably still kinda pissed off that it's dead and bugging it with questions isn't probably terribly kind. <shrugs>

Cloud reading, listening to the wind through the leaves, watching birds and being generally observant of nature works well also for me. Some times when I'm star gazing, I'll see things. I think anything can be a divination tool, it just matters if you're viewing it from that frame of mind. :)

For me it's my pendulum. I used runes quite a bit, but I usually am too impatient to try to interpret them. I remember the first time I saw someone use a pendulum thinking the guy was just swinging it himself, then I used one. I was so awed by the fact that it really did move without me moving it I forgot the question I had asked! :bigredgri

For me, it has always been the Runes. Growing up, I remember my mother going to see a seer and they would always use Tarot, but that didn't seem to jive too well with me. Don't get me wrong, I tried to use them, but they just didn't feel right to me. Probably because I was used to seeing women use them. But, hey, whatever gets you through, right? I have gotten into using them more and more and have begun to discover myself a little more.

For me, most definitely my pendulum I get so much out of it, and a close very close, second would be my runes, I don't have the traditional ones, but I have rose quartz (my fave crystal) ones, and they look gorgeous and have been good for me.

I've tried to use flame, but it never seems to do anything except leave a candle more burnt. Any quick suggestions?

SylverStar
June 19th, 2003, 03:56 AM
When I use flame or for that matter any divination, but mostly with flame the setting around matters. I like to put in some light music, usually something without words, If not complete silence. I take a moment to center and ground myself before I look into the flame. I Clear my thoughts and then look into the flame. It takes me awhile before anything comes and sometimes I don't get anything or a least anything relevant, but sometimes I do. Working with flame is my newest form of divination I've taken on. It takes practice. I started out just using it as meditation but now I use it as a form of divination. Just sit looking into the flame each night for a couple of minutes, don't expect anything it will come when it comes.

with SylversStar--when working with flame, I use it as more of a meditative state, rather than with tarot where the concentration (for me at least) is not as intense. I go into another mindstate with my mirror/flame combination, and the whole method actually leaves me altered for a while, much like deep meditation does.

I have been lusting after this big 75 cm crystal ball that I found for a while. I promised myself that for my 30th b-day I'd go and get it (that's in about 11 days now...), so I'll let you all know if I get it.

I kept my tarot cards around for years without trying them, then I slowly got into them. Now I love them, as you might have seen from my posts on the tarot thread. The mirror/flame contraption I've got I actually bought from illuminations. It's a round mirrored disk that fits into a base with a candle holder. I love it. But I have to be totally alone and able to be undisturbed for quite a while before I can use it. It takes a lot of concentration for me, maybe because I don't use it that often and so am not used to it.

Anyway, I can't wait to try the crystal ball, and one day I hope to buy a cauldron as well.

I voted for palm reading. It's always come natural to me. Other than that I'm partial to oracle cards even though they're not meant for divination...I love my Healing with the Fairies deck!
