I was just wondering what everyones favorite holiday was and why? Mines Samhain.

Why?

Well.. _travolta_ I'm not 1000% sure actully. Mostly becuase its in teh fall, which i love, but I jsut, feel great on All Hallows Eve. I've never known why, but I jsut do. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. For no particular reason, jsut do. To me its the best holiday. _witchball

I jsut love it. I mean, little kids get to have a LOT of fun, thier parents get to fret about the sugar overdose they have to deal wiht for the next month, but i mean, its jsut so festive!!! I just live it!!!

I would say Samhain. To me it represents darkness with the Lord's death and also a time to reflect and remember other things/people that have been lost.

Beltane. It's such a thrilling HAPPY holiday. It's the embodiment of love and life, fertility and celebration. It reminds me of ribbons and streamers, sun and flowers, colours, laughter, and a captivating sense of... content-ness. Life is good. Life is worth celebrating, decorating. The sun is out, the animals are out, the flowers are fragrant, the sacred union is honoured (and perhaps performed). Everything is perfect, for an evening and a day.

Mabon and Samhain. I love everything about Autumn. And I get a deeply spiritual feeling on Samhain thinking about the necessity of entropy and death bringing about new growth and rebirth. There's something so amazingly beautiful about it.

My favorite holiday is Samhaim. Fall has always been a great time for me even as a small child. Most of my favorite childhood and adult memories happened during the fall. Now that I have two little girls it takes on a whole new meaning. I'm the mom who lets them keep on trick-or- treating until they are worn out so long as the houses we go to are safe ones and the lights are still on. We always go outside and look at the moon too. They are still too small to understand much more than that yet but I plan to teach them all about it as they grow up. It is just so much fun!

It has always been Samhain for me. It's when the veil between our world and the spirit world is the thinnest,a time to honor those who have gone before us,a time when magick is at it's best! At least that's how I feel.
But as I grow older I'm also growing very fond of Beltane. Aahhhh, spring! Rebirth at it's finest.
You'd think that Lugnasdah(or however you spell it) would be my fav seeing as how it's a day before my b-day. :whatgives

My favorite is samhain. I enjoy taking my daughter out trick or treating and going to the festival of the dead/ witches expo in salem mass, and I love autumn. I also like beltane and the summer solstice. All the holidays are great. :D

Samhain. Always has been, no matter what version of it I celebrate, secular Halloween or religious Samhain. I've always liked excuses to dress up and put on makeup, and it's also a time for me to acknowledge that Godde not only made light but dark as well, night and day. I only started celebrating it as a religious holiday this past Samhain because I've only been incorporating Pagan paths into my Christian faith since last year's Ostara (a sharp change from being a realistic version of a fundamentalist Christian not too long before that).

Samhain I would say. :)

I love dressing up, and feel so much closer to Kali on this day.

For sentimental reasons, Litha/Midsummer is my favorite. But I love the energy of Samhain. Autumn really is my favorite season and the time from Mabon to Samhain is always good for me.

I like the Days of the Dead, they last for three days. My family and friends all help me prepare for a long time beforehand and that is lots of fun. The food and celebration is terrific. I LOVE the scent of copal. It is a great excuse to excercise all my artistic and spiritual talents. Just about every creative talent I have gets called into play.I think skeletons and skulls look cool and we put them up all over the place.

I like having the time set aside to confront my own mortality and consider my own beliefs about death, and to grieve and say goodbye to those I have lost in the previous twelfthmonth. To me it is the perfect holiday...full of fun, food , festivity, but also very spiritual and soul searching.

Samhain. Even before I found my path, this was always my favorite holiday. There's just something magical about Autumn. I love everything about it.

It's a tie between Samhain, Mabon, and Yule, just because those are my two favorite times of the year. I really enjoy all the Pagan holidays.

I absolutely love Beltane. The way everything is coming to life, trees budding, herbs crowing, the nights becoming soft and sweet with the scent of flowers. The return of the warmth and sun, the mild breeze from the sea... To me, Beltane is when the year really starts again.

Samhain, I get a chance to honour all my departed ancestors and I feel most spiritual since the otherworld is more open to prayer and meditation. I always feel the electricity in the air.

The year Morgaine was born, the day of her birth fell on this holiday :)

Yule, because my family's Yule tradition just rocks. We light our Yule log, we all get a glass of eggnog and toast to the new year. We decorate our Christmas tree and hang our stockings, and then we all sit in front of the fire and tell stories and jokes and just sit and laugh and be merry.

Plus my mom makes really really good food. We always have cheeses and veggie pate and candies and cookies and cakes. Mmmm... Yule....

I'm going to be unoriginal and say Samhain. Ever since I was a kid celebrating halloween with trick or treating, bobbing for apples and dressing up (usually as a witch...funny how things turn out ;) ) I have loved this holiday. There seems to be something in the air on Samhain...something...magickal! I love autumn too, and I just love all the different aspects of Samhain, secular and religious. Honouring those who have passed, acknowledging the darker aspects of life, preparing for the coming of winter...but also telling ghost stories, watching dumb scary movies and making fun, 'spooky' treats to eat. It's my favourite day of the whole year. It's May now, and I'm looking forward to it already. Obssessive, moi? :D

OH yeah, I'm typical--lol--Samhain. But hey, my love affair with all things Halloween began at such an early age, I think it had to be because I was conceived quite near that date to begin with...lmao. Makes a good story, anyway. :D (hey, I was born 6/30, so not so unbelievable, lol)

But I'm coming around to Beltane and Yule as well...you can say they are my "close second faves"...lol

Samhain, I know it the answer must people have given but, I've always liked the holiday. Busy season and all :tarotwitc. Its a good day for reflecting on things that a person needs to think about from time to time. On a lighter note, who doesn't love dressing some strange custom or the other. Imbolc would be a second runner up, I suposse its simply because it near the old birthday and a few other personal issues with that date.

I really like Imbolc, because I love Brigid and just the general feeling of a secret life being started. I like that its cold and you light warm fires and prepare for the coming abundance. It also reminds me of St. Lucia's Day in the Kirsten Books.

Perhaps not the 'truest' pagan holiday ... but my favorite is the summer solstice.

Why? I could easily be sentimental and claim it is due to my wedding anniversary being on 21 June. However, it goes far deeper. I chose 21 June as my wedding date because it represents the magic of summer. Memories of time free from school, barefoot, hiking for hours, thunderstorms, sun tans so deep you looked like someone from another country ... Nights full of stars, lightning bugs, whipporwills, trains whistling in the far distance ...

And toes full of cool clover ...
