I have a poor immune system, as a result I'm ALWAYS sick. Any natural suggestions?

I also have always had a poor immune system...but since I started taking the herb Echinacea and good quality vitamins...the ones in capsules...I can honestly say I rarely get sick. Always avoid vitamins that come in a solid tablet form...this makes it difficult for your body to absorb. You can get both of these in a health food store.

Assuming there are no medical conditions involved, have you done all the simple stuff - plenty of sleep, drink lots of water, balanced diet, exercise, positive outlook?

I've found I can go from being a target for every virus and bacteria around to just getting minor sniffles every now and then just by minding the basics, especially by getting a little extra sleep.

One note on the medical side. Some allergies can seem like a minor cold that never goes away. For people that are allergic to the right stuff, that can translate into what appears to be a year-round cold without the sneezing and itchy eyes most people would associate with allergies.

For what it's worth on the Echinacea, my chiropractor had mentioned that the liquid form works better than the powdered form, and that it loses most of its effectiveness after a couple of weeks of use. I don't know if that was from her studies or her personal experiences.

I've heard that too...so maybe.

And, as far as the basics...no, I have poor...all of them. Haha. Never sleep, don't excercise much, not much water, generally poor attitude....I'm a wreck I guess. hehe. One plus, I do have a pretty healthful diet. Mostly because I like the taste of vegetables and eat them oh so frequently.

Garlic & ginger also helps in warding off colds & such. And rosehips too.

Shy Hawk, I swear by garlic pills. I have been taking them for about 7 years, when I started teaching in a day care center and was sick all of the time. Now I rarely get sick and when I do, it is not bad and I get better much more quickly. The one thing you have to be careful of is garlic can be an anti-coagulant so you shouldn't use it two weeks before surgery or if you take aspirin or an ati-coagulant like Coumadin.

I guess I'll have to try that garlic thing....I have heard a lot about it too, and I even have a book that I've never read called "the miracle of garlic and vinegar". LoL. Worth a shot!

Thanks guys!:D

Mmmmm....I like Chinese. Sounds good to me. Perhaps it's something in the Chinese though, like the Ginger...or what have you.

But hey, I wont argue.:mmm:

Raw garlic works wonders. Here's a great way of eating it. Crush 6-8 cloves of garlic & let sit in 1/2 cup extra virgin or virgin olive oil. Add in 1 tbsp each chopped up basil & oregano. Add in 2 tbsp of crush nuts (pine nuts, peanuts, cashews - whatever you have or like). Add in 2 tbsp of grated parmesan cheese. Let sit overnight or 4 hours. Add in salt & pepper to taste. Toss this with your favourite pasta & serve with garlic bread. Double whammy of garlic & a quick easy meal! :D

Mmm Wild that sounds yummy! I love Garlic! :mmm:
& Chris ~ Mint! Yummy ~ Mint and live natural yogurt is really nice and a immune boaster :) You can eat it on its own or I love curries, so cook up your favourite curry then add a big dollop of Mint yogurt by the side :mmm:
Zinc too is good to take ~ and you can find it in nuts, seeds, bran, and Oysters!
& When buying food and cooking think lots of colour in your fruit and veggies ~ red, oranges and greens are the best!
