Is there one?

I found one site that mentioned Athena, but that was the only one that did; no other sites about her mention it so I'm a bit leery of the info. And she really doesn't call to me, anyhow.

Thanks ahead of time.

I've heard some people use Brighid to help with their Sobriety, hope it helps.

Talking about Goddesses rather than Gods, I'd say Sophia does (Wisdom). But I only say that because the Bible talks about the whole "drunkeness bears you naked before others" idea, and a bunch of stuff in Proverbs where Sophia is mentioned only as Wisdom (interestingly enough, with a capital "W"). I'm still studying the various ideas of the Goddess (personified as multiple Goddesses) personally.

Personally, I think any Goddess that relates to healing and health, may be worth looking into.

I can't imagine that a deity associated solely with sobriety would be tremendously popular, but I think Anahita, Mithra's mum, was such a goddess at some point. She changed a bit later on though I think, possibly from boredom. Can't remember.

*rofl*

I need to learn to not be so literal all the time. *L* Of course a goddess related to those would make sense! *smacks own forehead*

Many thanks. :)

Everybody makes a mistake at some point. It's okay.

Athena is specifically related with sobriety, and she is invoked to prevent drunkenness. Demeter is also associated with sobriety, but it's more complex. She is angry at Dionysus and thus forbids alcohol at her rituals, but the sacred barley mixture that is imbibed instead is a hallucinogen.

Shiva is the master of all ascetisism, so he could also be invoked for sobriety, particularly in regard to clearing the mind and empowering the spirit.

Hygiea, anyone? Goddess of hygiene.......Not sure about Sekhmet, but since she was stopped from her destructive path by being tricked into getting drunk, she MIGHT provide some support....Kemetics,what do you think? :whatmewor

Um... I get the impression that she *likes* beer!

I think it could go either way - there is that myth, but she's also the goddess of health and healing, so if it's a health issue then she'd probably help.
