Some of us are weather witches. I know I am. However, I don't think it's something you can learn to do. It's more of a connection to rain that brings it. (At least, that's what I believe.)

Depending on the type of energy your group works with...
on the silly side, I've worked with folks that have intermixed the well know Rain Rain Go Away.. type chant... (in the silly side, we've sometimes used that to make the rain stay...) But we are perverse.. Figure if you can't keep everyone focused enough, you might as well leave the weather as distracted.
But I'm one of those folks that on days decided to hop in puddles splashing it everywhere. My wife enjoys it as long as I don't coat her in mud <grin>

What is a weather witch?
A weather witch is in touch and can control the weather to a certain extent. Like I'm good with the rain. Whenever I feel sad or scared, it rains. If I call for rain, it'll come. I'm worse at sending it away, however. (Probably because I truly don't want to send it away, aside from the death threats I tend to recieve from my coven mates. I get calls all the time saying 'it better not rain on Saturday' or such.)

I used to send winds to my coven mates all the time... but I've never thought of myself as a weather witch. Hmm! Interesting! :)
I can't think of anything special I do for rain. I like to collect it and bottle it. Then I use it in my chalice for ritual purposes.

There's a wonderful song by Lisa Thiel, called Rain Chant. If you can get a copy, I'm sure you'll fall in love with it! I intend to try the chant sometime over the heated summer, to see if it works.

I have a rainmaker. It's sort of like a rattle thingy and it sounds like rain when you tip it. I purchased it at the swampfest from some old dude, he said it was supposed to make it rain... the weird thing is it really seems to work! Every single time I've tipped it always rains within 12 hours! Now all I need is a sunshine maker and I'll be set. :sunny:

Sounds like an interesting concept. I always try to make the rain go away, when I'm out walking it in, and am not in the mood to get wet. Its never actually stopped but it has slowed some.

Don't turn over the rainmaker ...
I've always found that messing with the weather causes problems, so I have an ethical issue with weather witching.
If you make it rain when it wasn't supposed to, you're stealing someone else's water ... when you make the rain hold off, someone else may get flooding, or you may end up with drought conditions.
I enjoy the rain, and run out and play in it when it does come, but I don't try to get extra ...

Hmn, I don't know any spells to invoke rain.
By my knowledge the weather comes, goes and changes as it pleases.
And that's fine by me :)
Rain however brings me in strange moods.
Most people look for dry places in the rain.
I always feel the urge to start dancing on hilltops :bouncysmi:

The ethical high road is all fine and dandy, but it doesn't get what needs to be done done. If your land needs the rain, you're in a drought, then you do what you have to do. Rain making is something that has been in practice for thousands of years. No, it isn't something to be triffled with but it isn't something to hid under the cover of an ethical blanket either. Like all things in life, if you can't accept the responsiblity of your actions (be it Karma or whatever), it is best if you stay away.
My land has been in a severe drought for several years. So yeah I'm working for rain. If I don't, we'll be out of water in a couple years. Do I feel guilty? No, it's my livelihood. I think that's the way you've got to look at it. "Do we really need this rain?"
And the idea of "not supposed to" tickles me wrong. It makes me think of some supreme ruler who is made the time line that says this happens here and if you screw it up, you're going to...
Just my random two cents. :)

Yeah, seriously! I live in Pittsburgh where it's almost always raining or overcast. I could do with less rain. ;) Take mine!

Ah, that's interesting. I wouldn't mind being able to affect rain somewhat. I love the rain, and my friends also love the rain...Still, I wouldn't use it much, mind you, because we really don't need it most of the time. Wind, on the other hand, would be nice...I don't think everyone would suffer from a wind drought, yes?
I read somewhere that one could do some type of spell or something related in order to bring about a simple breeze of wind, but I cannot, for the life of me, remember where I read that...

I remember one year, it was pretty dry and there were a lot of fires in our area. So, I wished and wished for rain. I sang chants every chance I got, I tried with all my energy to will it to rain. Whether I managed to do so, or if nature just decided to let it rain- it did so. I was delighted, and thanked her greatly.
However, there was a guy from one of my classes who was convinced it was me who did it. (He over heard me chanting one day). Ever since he's remembered it. The last time we needed it to rain, he actually came to see me and see if I could will it to do so again.
I didn't try, so I dont know if it's something I could do or not. I suppose it's a possibility. Everything is.

I dunno. My friend has this thing where he can make rain avoid him while he's out walking, but fall normally around him. (like an energetic umbrella)... But it doesn't involve chanting or ritual, just energy manipulation. ^_^
I, personally, like walking in the rain. ^_^

I can control the wind sometimes. It works best when I'm at the beach (which kind of makes sense, since the beach is where I feel the most centered); anywhere else, it's erratic at best.
I hate walking in the rain, though. It makes me feel like I'm being attacked.

I think with 'weatherwitching' you just need to focus so much on what you want to happen but you still cant be guaranteed

Hmm. I noticed yesterday and a few previous days, it started raining. I rarely check the forecast for weather, but I happened to be working on my meditation a lot...I remember once hoping for rain so that I could meditate to the sound, and it surprisingly did. It's been raining quite a bit, but today seems sunny. I don't and didn't really intend the weather to change, but it was nice nonetheless. I mainly attributed it to Others and other things besides myself, frankly.
Oh, about that 'umbrella' thing...I feel as if I sorta do that. I've always had better luck walking in rain more than others, even without an umbrella.

I wouldn't be surprised if many pagans have chants/rituals to affect the rain(wether coming, going, or force). I myself don't have any nor do I feel I need any. But I might like one to bring the rain hehe. I love rain
