Unfortunately, I only caught the last 45 minutes of the concert....I loved Paul Mccartney's new "Freedom" song.
And I just have one other thought to add....Boy..Richard Gere REALLLLLLLLLY stuck his foot in his mouth.

I haven't caught it yet, but I bet VH1'll show a billion repeats within the week, so  What did Richard Gere say?
:( Why does nobody want to talk about music stuff in my lonely lil music forum anymore?
;):D

but..but...but....this isn't just about music! LOL...and I did post something about it in music..in the what is stuck in your head thread.
Ok..richard gere basically got on stage, in front of thousands of Police, Fire, and Port Authority personell, and their familys, girlfriends, etc..and started talking about how we need to not seek revenge, not use violence, etc..at this point.
Now..he's entitled to his view...and ..i understand that those ideas come from a sincere heart. HOWEVER...there is a time and a place for everything. With the SHEER numbers of emergency personell lost in the September 11th tragedy....I don't think it was a very good idea to get up in front of all their surviviving family and friends, and tell THEM how they should be feeling right now.
Anyway..he almost got boo'd off the stage. So...maybe he realized it in hindsight. He was noticeably absent during the finale btw.

And you're entitled to your opinion. But...would you get on stage in front of thousands of grieving family members/co-workers/friends of those who died, and try to tell them how they should process their grief? Of what they should and should not feel? I sure as heck wouldn't.
Whether or not I personally believe that war is wrong in this situation..(which I don't.)...noone should tell someone else how to respond to a loss of a loved one. Or how to grieve, or what to feel. That's just my opinion though. And...i guess one shared by a lot of people, judging by the reaction in the venue at the concert.

It reminds me of when people tell me to "calm down" when I'm mad. Oh boy, not a good idea - I know how those people felt!

 Richard Gere must be kickin' himself in the butt right about now...
And I definitely agree with you Danus-- there's a time and place for everything, and poor Mr. Gere's clock was off by a few decades.

Yes..i definately missed his performance, and he was not present at the finale, to my knowledge. So..that would account for my not knowing he'd performed.
Thank you for telling me about the CD...maybe I'll ask for that for a Yule present :)

Well, on the Richard Gere front:
I understand that he does not want revenge because (yes, he is a Buddist) thats the path he follows but OMG huge lack of compassion and tack. Very big size10's (?) in mouth, infact I would be so bold to say both big feet in and upto the knee!!!!  :eek
Will watch out for repeated concert on VH-1, thanks for the 'heads up' Danustouch!
Great Yule idea too!
