If you had to pigeonhole yourself(ugh never do, but still curious)
are you a post modernist, impressionist or what?

I am shifting between impressionism and abstract surrealist stuff.
If cant decide, mix and match terms to describe your eclectic style.

Interesting question.....I would say I am an anachronistic renaissance visionary......with exsistential and realist leanings.......
hehehe
Love and thanks for asking
Swannie
PS the postmodern deconstruction stuff drives me crazy...
If you really want some reading try..... Dane Rhudyar............Dont let the Astrology fool you ..... as the IOLO HATH SAID
Crowley is to Rhudyar
as Jerry Lee Lewis is to Bach......

He he. Hard one for me, I don't generally 'do' what is called fine art. I prefer to have my art in useful objects, so that the utilitarian and artistic are together. If I had to choose, I'm probably more of an impressionist than anything else--for me real life is fuzzy lines too! <G>

Maggie

I'm not going to label myself either, sure I have my influences, I have my favourite this and thats (movements, artists, styles etc) BUT they do not define who I am and what work I produce now does it? I would like to think not.

I call my work PERSONAL ART!

Sorry though if that doesn't answer your question at all...

I guess you could say that since I tend to draw figures SD style(that's super deformed for all of you non-otaku out there), I work with abstracted forms. When I draw forms with more normal propportions, I tend to exaggerate the eyes and ears, also abstracting the form. So I guess, if someone wanted to label me, they could say I work in abstraction or, that I'm a surrealist.

But, it's easier to say I draw cartoons. ;)

that would be cartoon strip artist or in the words of Opus "A stripper" (I love Bill the Cat!) LOL

seriously, I know what you mean about changing reality.

Abstract Expressionism...definitely!
I'll try and post one of my paintings sometime.

Swanny: Did you know Dane Rudhyar was a painter too? I have a book about Kandinsky that shows one of his paintings in it! :D

I would have to tag myself as a "pencil stick-person eraser-smudge doodle" type. :T I can't draw worth the paper I draw on! :D I'm a crafty type - crochet, knit, cross stitch, sewing, etc. I also do web pages.

A different realm (or realms) of art, I suppose. :)
