Although colors are not usually associated with Astrological meanings, why is it that (after "surfing the web") so many people who put creedence in the meanings of colors do not agree on their implications? Yet, some of the planets have definite colors that also happen to correspond to their meanings. Astrologically, and I might be "sticking my neck out" on this one, but planetary meanings and their associated colors (in this writers opinion) should be something like this: Sun= gold = life giving, warmth, steadfastness, reliability value, masculine. Moon=silver= growing, germinating, giving birth, nurturing, feminine, and etc. Mercury=Orange= communication, crafts, travel, literacy, nimbleness, childhood. Venus=yellow, affinity, family, affiliations, loving associations, young adulthood, Mars=red= conflict, bravery, irritation, impatience, unsettled circumstances. Jupiter=green= growing things, options, jovialness, expansion, optimism, youthful. Saturn=brown= earthy, stable, foundational, slow, aged, clearing out of the old, death. Uranus=blue= new, exciting, revelation, advancement, invention. Neptune= Purple= mysticism, clouds, water, charity, inner feelings, knowing without knowing why. Pluto=maroon= isolation, purity, critical, exacting, understanding inherent value. What think ye?

Actually I think your meanings are great...the only thing I take exception to is Yellow being the color for Venus...and i must say I can't think of an exact reason /why/ it bothers me either!
Maybe I just think Venus should be a little more hearts & flowery, like pink or something...even though I hate pink.
Never mind me...I'm having an off-day! :D

I guess it all depends on the application,
certain colors are usually symbolic of different things,
in magick you have one corespondence table and then in the
qaballa another association, and in astrology, etc,,,

white is always a healing color and can be used as a substitute if another color is unavailable...

generally, I have read that what one person would attribute to earth, another person would feel better associating that color with fire, or water....but there is a danger though, some things are not interchangeable and when working really complex magical work, the wrong color on the wrong day CAN indeed result in a totally unexpected outcome...remember, the colors and symbols were designed as a way of communicating our intent to our higher self... which is connected with the devine mind... hope this helps, I can research it further if you like..

kadynas; OK, I believe that you are correct on the color of Venus. Perhaps I should revert back to its traditional hue of a light aquamarine. Although the color of Venus in the sky is a silver-white.

Considering colors, I am totally taken in with an illuminated indigo - a deep dark blue/purple color. Although not many things are of this hue, I can stare at it for a long time and not get bored, even to the point of wanting to become absorbed in it. I suppose that there are others who have similiar colors that totally captivate them.

Thank both of you for a reply.

venus is an earth planet and it is my ruleing planet, (Taurus) so I guess for me, I would say Green would be its color as green is also associated with Love and an earth color....

but I have used yellow too... as it is a spring color

I know what you mean about indigo...it reminds me a lot of a midnight blue sky, another thing which I can stare at for very long amounts of time.

Venus color...hmmm...I don't even know. I can see Venus being so many different colors... Green definitely works cause that reminds me of the creativity side. I guess the color I would pick for Venus would be magenta...it's not too baby pink, but not blood red either. But then you gotta figure I'm the incurable romantic, so I'm always picturing Valentines when thinking of Venus.

I have Venus in Taurus; you'd think I'd have more insight than this!

There are at least several correspondences with the planets...... some are very classic and the seconday associations not so common...... but they are historically valid and some traditional additions come from the associations of the constellations associated with that planet............and then the esoteric schools have given the signs "rays" of colors..... and that these also correspond to a sound or key or musical note........
and the colors aer those of the spectrum beginning with the inner wheel of the primary red blue and yellow... and farther out as the wheel expands we have combinations of colors ....
beginning with
RED for Aries ....( Mars )
Red -Orange Taurus (Venus)
Orange Gemini (Mercury) aquires a secondary color thus )
Orange-Yellow ( Cancer) Moon also has a secondary color
Yellow Leo ( Sun ) can also be seen as Gold
Yellow - Green Virgo Mercury's tertiary color here
Green Libra ( Venus ) A traditional association
Green - Blue Scorpio (PLuto )
Blue - Saggitarius (Jupiter )
Blue - Violet Capricron (Saturn )
Violet - Aquarius (Uranus)
Violet - Red Pisces ( Neptune)
and so on around the color circle.....

The notes of music tradtionally assigned to the planets and signs is how some composers who were also astrologers composed some music with "celestial signatures"

OK swannie, I get the gist of it now. I was under the assumption that each planet had only one color. The schematicism that was listed first was strictly an "off-the-cuff" idea, as I did not know anything about the planets and their associated colors. Niether was I aware of the signs of the zodiac having their own colors. Now I'm curious, what does indigo represent, and which planet and sign does it naturally connect with? Also, concerning audio notes, how do these relate to the signs and planets. (Since middle "A'' is 440 hz in frequency, how does one connect this with the planets?).

meth

according to Amber K's book
indigo is a water color and she associates it with Neptune
as well as emotion, intuition, the moon, west, the godess aphtodite, and the signs, cancer, scorpio and pisces...she also associates it with Gabrielle, guardian of the west...

crowly's book has sorta the same atributes includeing the one with Gabrielle

personally, scince neptune is the planet associated with dreams I would make my own association there...

one very important thing to remember, there may be a few tables that will conflict, slightly, so i guess its a matter of which source you rely on for your data

I know what you're talking about, Swan... And it wasn't just composers either. Even some artists were making that connection! You know me, just gotta bring up good old Kandinsky whenever I can!

But did your list come from any specific source or a bunch of them? I'm really interested in how colors relate to astrology and spirituality in general...must be the artist in me... :D
