This symbolizes to me a turning point, change, movement, the cycle of life, luck and success, destiny.

Knowledge is also depicted via the books. The creatures in the four corners all have wings, to me this indicates the ability to soar or Success. It also suggests guidance, some one's watching out for me.

The four elements are also depicted (the sybols within the wheel.)
I'm not sure what to make of the letters around the wheel.

If I come up with more....I'll be back! :)

Hi all!
The Wheel. The Wheel of Life,The Wheel of the Year. Then there's the roulette wheel.Life is a game of chance at times, but you gotta take a spin!
Lots of beings here. The angel, the dragon,a griffin?,and what looks like a cow with wings.I think these may represent the 4 elements.
Then we've got a blue sphinx with a sword above the wheel, the red devil under. The snake of wisdom on the left.So we spin the wheel, but knowledge is needed,or gained,for/by each spin.
Peace and Love

Hiya all,
Great take Brightstar! I was just about to ask what animals they were and what they stand for ~ thanks.

The wheel is the wheel of fate! - expect the unexpected when you get this card!
The wheel is turning again on a situation which can bring unexpected obstacles or great news.
Could be a spell of good luck, a new start of a turn of good fourtune, or could be the reverse depending on the rest of the cards in the spread.

What comes around goes around.
The wheel of life and fate is always turning so I always remind my friends, that if they get this card its only going to be difficult for a while as the wheel will turn again.

This card is the joker in the pack to me :p

Just been looking at the card again -
Can anyone please tell me -

What the symbols on the wheel represent?
Why are all the animals reading books? - wisdom?
And whats the symbol in the bottom right hand corner of the card beside the lion?

The outer rim of the wheel is God/s name. Yod, Heh, Vav, Heh... unpronouncable as the letters are all consonants. Impossible to speak God/s true name.. or so the story goes. Kind of a test of faith. Jews and Christians have always viewed this name as magikal in itself. For Kabbalists the four letters are the symbol of the world's mysteries. Also the word TORA is spelled out between the hebrew letters at 3,6,9, & 12 o'clock. Depending on the direction you read it.. also says TARO or ROTA, ORAT, or ATOR. Macgregor Mathers, the founder of the GOlden Dawn, formed this sentence ROTA TARO ORAT TORA ATOR, Translates... THe wheel of Taro speaks the law of ator. Ator being known best as the Egyptian Goddess of the dead, it is actually the law or eternal life. The body dies but the soul lives on.

I think the wheel is one of the most important life lessons learned through tarot. It is basically, to me, Karma in all its glory. The wheel of life turns whether we wish to acknowledge it or not. Nothing can be all roses, niether all thorns. The wheel turns up as well as down. Some folks think that everything that happens to us is for a reason... some lesson we need to learn or even punishment for something we have done either in this life or a previous one. As a child I remember several times my mother saying to me, "God has a plan and he knows everything that will ever happen to you because he planned it." I used to think that if that were true there was no point in me doing anything because the same results would come to pass no matter what.

I have since decided that she was partly right. My life has been predetermined, but not by God... rather by me and the decisions I have made in the past. We do have a say in how life is lived. The choices we make determine the future choices availiable to us. To me that is what the Wheel is saying. Don't get too hung up on the bad times because the wheel will spin around again and we need to be able to fully experience the other times as well. To do this we must fully embrace the "bad" times as well. I can honestly look back at all the "bad" times in my life and recognize the lessons learned. As Mol's father says..."Builds Character"

This card to me represents life. It shows all the stages, a baby, a little girl, a maiden, a mother, and a crone. Life is on a continuous road that never stops. That everything either good or bad will pass. I also think it covers the wheel of the year. 8 spokes for the eight Sabbats. Which is another sign of the continuation of life. Spinning wheels got to go round. ( Tom Jones) HEHE

Exactly! The wheel spins and we are helpless, but to hold on and ride! It is something we can't change or control....we can steer it...but we can't speed it up or slow it down. Things happen in their own time.

I never thought to count the spokes before. I just saw the seasons of change. :D Great job, Jazzmine!

DESCRIPTION

In Greek mythology, there are three women known as the Fates. They are responsible for spinning the destiny of each person at his or her birth. It is not surprising that the Fates are spinners because the wheel of fortune is an apt image for the elusive turns of a man's fate. This is the theme of Card 10.

The Wheel of Fortune is one of the few cards in the major arcana that does not have a human figure as a focal point. This is because its center is above the realm of man - in the higher levels (clouds) where the destinies of all are woven together in the tapestry of life. The tarot recognizes that each person sets his own path in life, but is also subject to the larger cycles that include him. We experience chance events that appear to be accidents although they are part of the great plan.

In readings, the Wheel of Fortune can indicate a vision or realization that strikes with great force. If you've been struggling with a problem or tough situation, this card can signal that you will find the answer if you stand back and view everything from a larger perspective.

The Wheel of Fortune also represents unexpected encounters and twists of fate. You can't predict surprises; you can only be aware when one is circling around. Indeed, Card 10 often suggests wheel-like actions - changes in direction, repeating cycles and rapid movement. When the energy of the Wheel arrives, you will feel life speed up. You are caught in a cyclone that may deposit you anywhere. "Round and round and round she goes, and where she stops, nobody knows."

Ready for my 2 cents?? Here goes:

Looking at the Rider Waite Card I see 7 figures surrounding the Wheel (possibly the muses?). I believe representing not only the five elements (5 are gold colored), but also the 3 fates and possibly the 3 pillars again (or even spiritual/feminine, physical/masculine, and the combination/blending of both). The Wheel itself-- destiny, fortune, life cycles; notice that there are three spheres within the wheel itself. I believe these represent the planes of existence. We see the outer ring with the symbols for the names of Deity, the middle with I think the symbols of the elements, and the center or core with the eight spokes possibly representing the seasons, sabbats, ect.

I also believe that the Sphinx was the guardian of knowledge, the Anubis figure the guardian of the spirit world and the snake being the physical embodiment of both(?) or maybe representation of our life cycles here on earth where we learn the lessons we need to grow and continue on in our path.

The Robin Wood Deck shows a roulette wheel like picture with scenes of a woman ranging from true happiness/enlightenment/health/strength/financial security to complete destitution/illness/weakness/misery/disillusionment and the inbetweens. The colors in the background follow the red, orange, yellow, green, aqua/teal, blue, violet, purple... which includes the accepted colors that represent the elements. The robe the woman is wearing changes also from being golden to white to dingy grey to dirty grey to black and back.

This is a card that kind of scares me in that I do not have total control over what it may say, but then again...that's life. We do not have total control over certain aspects of our lives especially when timing is involved. To often we get impatient for things to happen instead of hanging on for the ride and enjoying what we can from moment to moment. Not everything in life is enjoyable, but it is those who can see the positive energy/forces/lesson in any situation that will remain strong and survive any ordeal.

Well I said way more than I thought I would, hopefully it made some sense...LOL! :D

Illy!

what great perceptions!

The four fixed zodiac signs are represented on this card! Taurus (the bull) element of earth, Leo (the Lion) element of fire, Scorpio (the eagle) element of Air, and Aquarius (the man) element of water....thus bringing balance and stability to the unpredictable.

Thanks Illy! Wow, Im learnign so much here :)

I actaully did a reading for my friend yesterday lunch time and she got the Wheel as her at the moment! - This puzzled me because I knew she's not had any dramatic changes/events in the past week or so but she said she has been changing towards her attitude in her relationship, but I thought it has to be somehting bigger!... the reading went on and all was great for her. Then she went back to work and decided to quit an hour before the end of day! ~ The reading I gave her was all about her relationship and home life (no work questions came up) so I had no doing in this ~ Just proves that the tarot is so right and can bring up the most surprising revelations! Which this card is all about!

The wheels on the bus go round and round....

I think this shows the interconnectedness of all things...we may believe we are better than something/someone else, but as the wheel turns, sometimes, I am on top, sometimes not...
