how long does it take you to get into a meditative state? If it depends on your mood, do an average

Normal meditation about instantly. Deeper states take a bit longer.

What would be the real definition of meditate? When I go into the woods to pray,or,meditate,my mind almost imediatly turns to God,I feel him with me watching me,when im alone. Is that considered meditating?Sometimes when im bummed out,I lay in my sleeper and put my pillow over my head and lay on my tummy, and think about whats bothering me,and I wind up thinking about God and talking to him.Im alone a lot,so I can enter into deep thought even while others are around.

Meditation would be the ability to silence all thoughts except for one, or, as some pursue, none at all. It creates an empty, easy mind, free of sorrow, free of stress. With such an empty mind, it is said to be easy to concentrate unto a single train of thought, which might lead to a much stronger bond with deity, a much faster conclusion of a problem, a much more focused perception, a better working of magic, and more.

A good, deep meditative state takes me about 15-20 minutes. However, I can centre and balance myself within a few moments, which is what I usually do when I need to stop, breathe, and recharge.

For me, it depends on my mood. If I am hyper it seems to take for ever to calm down and I cannot meditate until I am calm.
Though I tend not to be hyper very much.
Overall, after three breaths I am faaaaaaar away in a tranquil space.

Between grounding, casting a circle, and remembering things I have to add to the shopping list about three or four times ... it usually takes 5-10 minutes.
Or so.
Sometimes 15.

It depends on the surroundings, but usually 5- 10 minutes, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less.

It takes me about 10 minutes. I could probably do it faster, but I got into the practice of "checking and quieting" each bodily system at the beginning of my mediation. To go through each one, takes a little time.

On average I begin to enter a typical meditative state the moment I commit my mind to it. My eyes may or may not be opened, I could be doing things with my hands or simply lying in my bed. It's come quite easily to me I will admit, so I was not one of those who spent years toiling over it and put enormous effort into every aspect of it.
When it comes to very deepened states it takes me roughly 3-6 minutes.

I voted 10-15 mins.
Depending on the situation.

Is I'm already peacefull... 30 seconds to 2 or maybe 3 minutes.
If I'm angry... or sad, or really really happy I usually don't even bother to try, then I just don't feel like it anyway.

I chose "other" because I can very rarely get into a meditative state.

I'm not sure...I don't really meditate often, but when I do, it varies. It always depends on what is on my mind...sometimes it is easier to clear, and other times it is harder. Yet, I know more practice could help with the problem.

I chose "other," because it's not that I DON'T meditate, it's that I find it nearly impossible to meditate. I've tried it many times, and I'm pretty much convinced that I'm just not wired for it. For one, my body seems to be innately tense...always has been. When I make myself conscious of it, I almost always inevitabley find that, even when I'm not stressed or anxious, I'm still so tight that I have my shoulders scrunched up somewhere around my ears like Ed Sullivan. And don't even get me started on "quieting my mind." I can't. My mind absolutely WILL NOT shut up. I've tried dozens of techniques and none of them get me to a meditative state. I can visualize pretty well, but meditate? Newp. :nuhuh:
