I am currently going over my 8 year old's chart because it is looking like I'm going to be home schooling him next year. I want to figure out the best way of teaching him. I know that he is smart, but he doesn't use his brain. He's over emotional and can't control it. Result: has so far this year been suspended from the bus 2 times, suspended from recess god knows how many times and lost a number of friends. He's rude, sarcastic, self centered and violent at times and has gotten worse over the past year.

I'd figure I'd start with Saturn, Jupiter and his 3rd house ruler... but I'm horrible at reading T-squares and am afraid that I won't be objective in this. He has a heavy "harsh" aspect chart.

Birth info: July 6, 1996

Well first thing that strikes me is that his 3rd house ruler is the Sun, which is conjunct Mercury and part ofthe T-Square with Saturn & Jupiter. :) The impression I get is that he's very bright and may take pride in that, to the point of where if he doesn't understand something he may fake it rather than take a hit to his ego and ask for some help. It seems like he'd take any mistakes he might make very personally. He's got a good bit of water which can bring a lot of over-sensitivity but also a great deal of creativity. Saturn here is also trining Venus and Uranus however, so maybe he'd find it easier to learn his lessons if they were presented in either a more creative way than traditional schooling or in an "off-the wall" sort of way. You don't say what subjects you'll be teaching (I assume all?) so maybe having him draw out word problems for math or having him act out history lessons - complete with costume! - could be helpful for him. He seems to be the type that would do well in whatever he finds interesting and not make as much effort with whatever he sees as boring. Moon in Pisces would seem to emphasize his creative side, so if he has any artistic talents at all, try to blend those with as many of his subjects as possible. I also get the feeling that he's a very visual learner; he might remember things better if he can "see" them in his mind rather than by simple memorization of facts.

As far as his emotional side goes, I hope he's nicer to you than the kids at school! :hugz: I think though as long as you're supportive and attempt to make things interesting for him that things shouldn't go too bad. :)

Oh boy did you hit that one right on the head!! That's one of my biggest problems with him is that I can't tell if he really understands something, or he's just faking it to get me off of his back

It seems like he'd take any mistakes he might make very personally. He's got a good bit of water which can bring a lot of over-sensitivity but also a great deal of creativity. He is very over sensitive and takes everything personally. I believe that he may be rather empathic as well, but he doesn't know how to control it. He feeds off of whatever emotions are around him and amplifies them. If he's happy, he's super happy and the life of the party, but if he's mad he will make life a living hell. The strange thing is that he really doesn't show his creativity. I'm thinking that he never had the confidence to develope it. He's had PT and OT for the past 4 years because of weak upper body and hand strength. it made it very difficult for him to learn how to write or use a pencil.

Saturn here is also trining Venus and Uranus however, so maybe he'd find it easier to learn his lessons if they were presented in either a more creative way than traditional schooling or in an "off-the wall" sort of way. he doesn't do well in the traditional school setting at all. He's in all specialized classes that have a looser structure... but they are severly dumbed down. They don't challange him at all on the stuff that he does know and the stuff that he doesn't know, he hates it because they make him feel like he's a baby.

Right now I have to have a core curriculum because the state requires it. So I have to include Social Studies, Science, and all that in one way or another. His weak spot is reading comp, hand writing, and English, so I plan on incorporating a lot of creative writing and fun reading into those areas. I also plan on teaching him meditation to help with the emotional overload that he gets and the basic points of social interaction.

I also get the feeling that he's a very visual learner; he might remember things better if he can "see" them in his mind rather than by simple memorization of facts. It would probably be a good idea to include drawings and models in with his work too.

As far as his emotional side goes, I hope he's nicer to you than the kids at school! :hugz: I think though as long as you're supportive and attempt to make things interesting for him that things shouldn't go too bad. :) So do I... that's one reason why I'm making his emotional health the center of our time together next year. You know, it's one of the weirdest things I've seen. As much as he feeds off of other people's emotional energy, he doesn't recognize simple body language or vocal cues on how a person feels. If it makes any sense at all, it's almost like he's sooo empathic that he hasn't developed empathy, and I know from my own psychology studies that that can be dangerous.

Just one thing I noticed that wasn't highlighted: if you add Chiron into the picture, you get not one, but TWO Grand Crosses. Sun or Mercury to Saturn, Jupiter and Chiron.

He likely has problems dealing with rage, anger and frustration stemming from a lack of self-worth or a blow to the ego. It can be hard for him to express his inner needs, ideas, and emotions when Chiron is adversely affected in transits. He likely has to struggle to assert himself. There can be frustration and resentment related to his position in life. Maybe he doesn't like being the 'little kid'? His mind is well developed, perhaps more like that of adult, or an older child but he doesn't have accompanying emotional stability of an adult. Chiron together with Jupiter makes him be challenged by his own high expectations for himself and others. He tends to see that his way is the 'right way' and may refuse to listen to other viewpoints.

I would take this to be that he is struggling now to find his own place in the world and how he fits into it. I betcha he views people in general with distrust and possibly cynicism. This can cause him to reject social contacts totally. Basically he's this way because he is so deeply feeling and almost "otherworldy" at times. That Pisces MC of his may be calling him in different directions too.

My $0.02 :)

oh believe me, I noticed that... and that Chiron is conjunct to NN in the 4th. It's like he screwed up big time in his last life... or mastered the 1st lesson, depending on how you look at it. I was tempted to include Chiron in the 'astro teacher' list, but that made things a lot more difficult for me to read so I figured I'd start with the basic first.

He has a very difficult time articulating what it is that he his thinking, and his double Leo brother has a habit of jumping in on him and trying to finish things for him. I've been getting on him lately about not letting the double Cancer do things on his own, and it's starting to help. The problem that I'm coming up with now is that the Cancer is blows up on his brother no matter what it is that he is trying to tell him. It doesn't matter if it would help him figure things out or not.

and he is stubborn... stubborn like a Taurus  but he doesn't pick his battles wisely. He'll fight about stupid things and it doesn't matter if he is right or wrong. he is such a cynic that it is to the point of being annoying, and he has trouble trusting anything of what anyone tells him. Result: he lies constantly because he doesn't trust people with what he is actually thinking.

One thing that I'm hoping will help is that he has a bigger fasination with the occult and fantasy than his brother does. He loves dragons and ghost stories and thinks that it's hallarious that his mom is a witch.
