I had a dream.... and I've had ones like these in the past where I'm being attacked physically, spiritually, and mentally by SOMETHING.... and when I wake up... I not only have a splitting headache, but I feel incredibly weak, drained, and I have bruises that I couldn't have possibly given myself by kicking something or bumping into soemthing...

am I being attacked? what do I do?

Yikes! In these dreams do you feel paralyzed, like you can't move your body? Have you tried waking yourself up? You may be having night terrors. I've had several where I felt like someone was trying to lay on me and I couldn't wake myself up no matter how hard I tried.

I would suggest envisioning a protective shield around yourself, make it powerful to block any kind of negative energies. Once I started doing this on a nightly basis the dreams ended. Good luck.

Sounds like there's a lot going on in your waking life right now that you don't feel you can handle. Dreams can magnify that in nasty ways. :bug:

oh yeah! I seriously cannot move, literally I can't and it seems like I can open my eyes just fight and blink, but the rest of me can't! I keep telling myself to stay calm but I then ofcourse I freak out and want to scream, but even my vocal cords don't work. I've had dreams where I get hurt physically very literally before, and they stopped for a while.. but it looks like they've returned. Just this morning I've woken up with blood in mouth and a fat lip....

This is classic night terror, more than likely not any sort of supernatural assault. There's a good amount of research going on about the phenomenon, google "Night Terrors" and see what you find.

It's always best to exhaust mundane possibilities before exploring supernatural ones.

i would have to agree it does sound like night terrors or something along those lines but it couldn't hurt to try a simple protection spell or make a protection charm to hang over your bed just to be sure.. if its not a supernatural assault then you will know quickly and if it is then it should stop..
i think however you should look into night terrors maybe even talk to a dr about it they may be able to help or be able to refer you to someone who specializes in this sort of thing

To an extent, we are supposed to be paralyzed while we sleep so we don't pee the bed.....but there is disorder called

Sleep Paralysis (http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art29750.asp)

among others.

As someone said, you may have a lot of stress in waking life that's causing it. Illness, lack of sleep, medications and other things can also interfere with sleep. You may be flailing around and hitting things even though you feel paralyzed and that may be causing the bruises.

There's a link within that article to a site that has a list of sleep disorders and when to seek help. Not getting enough rest in the form of restorative delta stage sleep can cause this type of thing as well, so if this is interfering with your sleep and your life, please see a doctor.

I used to have what you are describing as night terrors as a child. I would not be able to scream or move or anything, and would feel like I was unable to breathe. If I made my mind relax and tell myself to go back to sleep completely, then I could wake normally after that. Mostly I would fight to jerk myself awake.

This would happen in the car on road trips, too. The first few times I asked my Mom why she didn't help me, I was screaming at her to wake me up, help me, but she said I never made any sounds....

As an adult I have had them, but not nearly as much, and for many years now, I have been free of them.

That is almost definately a night terror. Its quite uncommon in adults though. However I know exactly how it feels. I have suffered with night terrors for a long time. Sometimes they go away, sometimes they dont. Ive learned to just take a humorous view to it all. Coping with night terrors is an incredibly good way to learn how to cope with anything in the waking world. Heh.

I like that! and it reminds me of my philosophy that when you believe in something, you give it a great deal of power. If you believe you're being attacked, this could make it worse.

Night terrors are extremely rare in adults, but there are other sleep disorders, like the one I mentioned, that can mimic them. There are links to info on night terrors here:

Sleep Disorders (http://www.bellaonline.com/subjects/4868.asp)

Lack of rest can cause physical, emotional and even mental health problems, so please consider all aspects and talk to your doctor.
