I'm a relatively inexperienced tarot reader, but had a really good experience the other day. I had done some tarot readings for co-workers last summer, and had then forgotten about them (since I had gone back to school). Last week though, I had a chance to catch up with two of those people. Not only had they vividly remembered the readings I had given them (which was astonishing in and of themselves) they said that many of the things I had told them had actually come true in the past year. Things that I had said, that at the time seemed to make no sense or seemed completely untrue had actually happened!

In fact, the same thing happened to me a month ago. I had done a reading for myself a few weeks before that I did not really understand, but a month later I happened to flip through my tarot journal, read through the reading again, and my "future influences" card made perfect sense!

So, first of all, I just needed to share, since it was such an awesome experience. Second though, I was wondering how everybody deals with things like this. Do you take cards that you had had difficulty interpreting originally and add to their meanings based on your experiences?

Absolutely. Stuff like this happens all the time. I always try to write down everything that crosses my mind during a reading, even if it seems silly. I'm often surprised later by how many of those "silly" things come to make more sense than the more traditional thoughts I come up with at the time. :)

Ahhhhh, I am so jealous of you. When I read for others it is always done electronically, so everything I read is written down, usually to occur within a specific week. I do 3 months readings like this for an out of state friend, with 3 cards for each week. The last reading I emailed her, I asked if she was visiting her parents in the week of 6/15-6/21. I told her, whoever this couple was, she would need to make herself scarce - withdraw and stay away from them in the visit, primarily because the way the couple are would demand her withdrawal. Sure enough, she emailed me back saying yes, her parents were coming for a visit in that week.

But the reason I am jealous of your experience is because I quit writing down the readings I do for myself. I can't have experiences like yours if I don't do the work! And now that I think about it, I have been recording the interpretations, but not the cards themselves.

Yes, I would take notes as time progressed and I am absolutely sure it would increase my knowledge of possible meanings for the cards. Thanks, your experience woke me up to get back on the stick with this.

For me, the card I turned up for myself was the Queen of Pent. At the time, it made no sense whatsoever. I was doing a celtic cross with regards to making a decision about grad school next year, and I had no idea who/what the queen was. Several weeks later, my grandmother very generously offered to finance my studies and BAM!! The Queen shows herself.

Now, I'm not sure how that really changes my interpretation of the Queen of pentacles on a general level, but the intuitive flash was obvious as to who the queen was!

First off...how exciting to hear that your readings had meaning for people! That is a cool experience. Those types of experiences are one of the reasons I continue to read and study the tarot. :)

I do add my own personal twist to the meanings of the cards based on my experiences, so I guess the answer to your question is yes. As you've already discovered, keeping a tarot journal, or at least some sort of notes, is very helpful with that. Of course, the cards won't mean exactly the same thing every time you read them because there are so many subtle shades and variations of meaning...but it helps to have your own personal thoughts and experiences available to draw from.

That is Awsome!!!
Congradulations with this occurance on your Tarot journey!

I love when that has happened to me in the past.

I hardly ever do readings anymore....I only use them in magic or for meditations reasons anymore.

The Tarot certainly is a wonder.
