I made a move in January I was not really crazy about, but was the best thing at the time. I have gotten a better job than I had..in fact it was my old job back after asking the universe to put me where it wanted me and out of the blue they called the next day..anyway, I find that I am on the verge of losing any magical connection..I am a water sign and was completely happy using the ocean as a power source and restoration for my spirit. I am up in the woods now, literally, with a neighborhood type setting, and grass and mud and no sand and no ocean. It is virtually impossible for me to get out in nature, but I have some lovely trees just across the fence I can see out the windows..I do not feel a universal connection at all..I still have my candles and my stones but I do not feel any connection with the nature forces and I have sat on the porch adn talked to them and nuttin.. Has anyone else ever had this happen ? I feel like Tinkerbell waiting for people to clap! Any ideas appreciated. Thanks and blessed be

What if you bought a little fountain for your home?
Or bought a fish tank?
Or you can get cds that play sounds of the ocean's waves and such...
I'm sorry, I don't really know what to tell you, but I hope things work out for you! :hugz:

Hold on... :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: You may be trying too hard. You've been through a lot of mundane changes, and those can be enough to screw up your mojo :hehehehe: My tradition is rooted in the belief of "spirit of place", and I can understand your feeling of disconnect with your new surroundings. Look for commonalities that your new place and your old share-hell, start with the moon, sun, and stars if you have to, they're still the same,no? Don't get down in the mouth-get some sea salt and have a nice loooooong soak in the tub with it. No, I know it's not the same, but until you can arrange a road trip, it'll have to do. Think of it as a psychic bandaid :fpompoms
When the time is right, spirit will come to you, probably when you least expect it  .
Feel free to pm me-I'll send you some ocean if you want :fishtank:

It sounds as if you were too dependant upon your surroundings, a type of magical co-dependancy. You should take this opportunity to learn how to live and more importantly, thrive in any enviroment. The magic should in the end come from within, not an ocean or a forest, which while they can each enhance your life in many ways would be very risky to cling to so adamantly.
You may have to begin all over again, re-connecting with what you have and re-acquainting yourself with your new enviroment. Every area is different, each has its own energy and your energy may be out of sync with its.
Overall the problems seem to be 1.) You were too dependant upon one element and one enviromental setting 2.) That you are extremely sensitive to enviromental shifts (had you not moved and the place where you lived was horribly polluted very quickly the same result may have been brought about for example) and 3.) That your unhappiness with where you are living is seriously affecting you.
Just because the universe decrees in your mind that this is the best place for you to be at this time does not mean it is a place you will be happy about. Adversity and suffering bring strength and growth, but rarely are people happy about the former two while they're experiencing them. So, if you firmly believe you are where the universe believes you should be you may want to re-evaluate it and see what challenges (even this challenge of settling in and attuning yourself to your new enviroment) are here for you to overcome, not overcome and in either case learn from. At the very least that should bring you some contentment, and the more content you are the more likely you are to be at peace again.

you know, I think you hit on something..things rather..the reason I went and moved, back to where I had previously lived, was that the county had bought the land where I lived and was turning it into a beachfront park, complete with lights, asphalt walking paths, 1000 foot pier etc. and tearing down a centuries old fort to accomodate the parking lot. I do believe that it was time to sever my connection to the place, which was very soul satisfying, in the sense of this is where I belong. The move felt like it was right for me to move on..maybe I am doing a fire, earth and air thing now..and I also know I have some unfinished business I need to finish or accept..people keep telling me I have changed while I was gone, and it is true, I have. I wonder if you have any suggestions on attuning to the new place..I have the fountains and even a misting cauldron type fountain..and yet, I see them as a been there done that sort of thing..even turned one off a couple of days ago..I have planted some garden plants and some herbs and a few flowers..but so far I feel like my rituals have all the fizz of a flat Dr. Pepper..thanks yall, I really appreciate this help because I do not like the disconnected feeling!

Acquire things from your immediate area. Your yard (if you have one) would be a wise choice, as would any area that you feel is beautiful or gives you a strong spiritual feeling. Dirt is an excellent choice, a random stone (you can find quartz in the ground around here sometimes and mica at my oldest sister's house), a feather, anything that is not perishable unless you wish to collect things continuously.
Place them on your altar or around your home, they will bring the energy of the land around you closer to you to help you attune with it. Do be careful, however, in what you select. If something feels like a poor choice it probably is for one reason or another. Be selective, it is quality and not quantity that counts.
Beyond that make an effort to walk, sit or lie outside where you are able. Experience your new home and you will connect with it.

You haven't lost your magic. Moving is very jarring to the root chakra, and it's an effect we usually don't feel consciously because we're too busy "coping." The very same thing happened to me after making three moves in one year.
Witches get high off their magic and off their conscious connection to these universal energies. When you lose that high, it's really difficult. I got around it by doing a lot of devotional work, like the others in this thread have suggested -- asking the energies to come to me, trying to stay as open as possible. It took time, but it worked, and I felt like I'd found my "in" again after a few months. For you to be feeling this at all, though, is a testament to the depth of the spiritual work you've done, and it comes through in your post.
I get the sense that you might just be a sea witch. Even if you are, it's really important for your lifelong magical training to learn to really vibe with the other elements, which may be why the universe sent you into exile just now.
Is your rising sign watery? According to your profile, you're a Gemini, which is air.

Cancer sun, Capricorn moon, 28 or so degrees of Libra rising, Mars Venus conjunct in Taurus, Saturn on the midheaven, void in fire. I can see that I have work to do..which is why I am back here..but in order to do so I can't feel scattered like this..not scattered exactly, sort of floating in a void. After I read some of these posts, I went and sat on the porch with the dogs (my children) and watched my baby goats play and looked at the trees and the sky and while I relaxed some, well like nada...which means nothing in Spanish! I have been reading some fairie work and have asked to meet them and work with them, but again nada. I guess I am on Universal time for now.

Don't know how you feel about sleeping outdoors, but that is how I connect with my surroundings. The critters and bugs become used to you and, kinda like M/W, once you've been around awhile and the locals know ya, the energy changes. Good luck and blessings to you!

Bridgewitch- Boy do I feel you. I am going through the reverse. Moved from the green mountains of Tennessee to the sandy shores of California. As a earth sigh I had a hard time adjusting.
My solution was to have a small earth alter to ground me while I got use to my new enviroment and I started working with the elements around me.
I wish you luck and just remember - There is alot of water around you else no green, no mud.
I still miss the rich, fragrent, dark earth but I am more comfortable with the water around me.
I hope you find your peace.

Take some time one night soon and just sit outside and stare at the moon and the stars look for the beauty of Your new surroundings. Green grass, prety flowers, beautiful birds etc.Your connection with the new place may take a little bit of time. Most things happen gradually ,there is no reason to fret or worry You have to give Yourself some time to adjust to the very different and new surroundings .BB ,Shalaye :hugz: A drastic change in enviornment will unbalance You and time will straighten it.

Well, this is a pretty obvious reply, but have you ever tried the bath tub? I do many rituals in the tub. I also find I can meditate easier in there than anywhere. I find a late night private bath very healing, too.

I do not envy you! I think that leaving the landscape I grew up around would be very hard for me. Don't get me wrong, I love to explore and travel, but the hills and rains of Pennsylvania are so much a part of me that living somewhere dry and flat would probably drive me crazy!
I wish you all the best re-connecting with the elements. Jarring changes CAN have a serious effect on how you feel magic and work with what is around you. Try a simple visualization where you imagine your old surroundings morphing and becoming your new ones. It will help you, even mundane-ly, create new associations with the elements. =)
Best wishes! If you would like any other meditation/visualization ideas for the transition, just PM me!

This has happened every time I've moved. It can take me quite a long time to get settled into a place long enough to feel 'rooted'. My practice is so wrapped up in feeling safe and at home. If I don't feel good or familiar with my environment, I feel quite shut down.
The only solution I have found is to go for a lot of walks to familiarize myself with my environment and the spirits that reside there, and to practice anyway. Even if I don't 'feel' anything, I know I'm honouring my commitment, and that's more important than 'feeling' anything. Experience has taught me that, eventually, the sense of connection I want to feel returns.
Good luck with all the changes. :)
