I quit smoking (again) on Friday, May 27, 2005, at 3:00 PM, after 20 years of smoking. Hopefully I'll be able to stick with it this time.

A month? That's awesome! I can't use the gum or the patches. I got a blood infection from the patch and the gum makes me ill. I may take you up on the PMs one day, though!

Well done and good luck. My hubby quit smoking 9 weeks ago. I understand how hard it can be.

That's fine! I'm usually around. Still craving but to get past those first 3 days was the worst! The only thing that really keeps me going is the fact that I don't want to feel like I did in those 3 days ever again! It sucked!
I'm not using anything but pure will power either so I have much respect for you! _twohorns_

Good luck Girl! I've tried several times and failed, now I'm only smoking when I drink, which if it happens, takes place only on the weekends. Once in awhile I'll backslide during the week and have one, I'm going to get up the courage to try and completely stop again.
Get yourself some sugarless gum instead of that nicotine gum, it's nasty. The patches were nauseating, especially in the mornings so I stopped those too.

*...nods...* I think the 2nd day was the worst. I thought I was going to lose my mind for a good while. Now the most difficult part is being at work and breaking the habit of wanting to go outside for a cigarette every few hours.

Thanks!

Heh. I'd be happy if I could get myself to only smoke when I drink. I'm just not sure that I can trust myself not to continue smoking even when I'm not drinking.
The patches didn't nauseate me, but I ended up with giant, red and purple bruises near wherever I wore them that looked like I got hit with a bat.

:woot: Way to go and good luck! I've quit and picked it back up many times. I seem to go for 3 months intervals, basically quitting for 3 months at a time until the cravings hit. During times of high stress I smoke more often...sadly this is one of those times. Off to have a smoke now. :(

Congragulations, kiddo and hang in there. It's certainly one of the toughest addictions I can think of to break, but fortunately not impossible.

good luck i know how hard it is, i have been trying to quit for a about a month i am doing the gradual cut down method and i am down to about 5-6 ciggs a day. i think that iwill be able to make the move to a lesser # very soon. i have gained 5lbs though and my dr wants me to loose 30 so i think that i will stick to the 5-6 a day for now and try to loose the weight first and then do the smokeing but still cut back on the way. i know how tough this can be. lots of lavender incence for me (it calms me when i am stressed)

i've been without cigarettes for nearly two weeks now, and the longer you are without the better you feel. Those first days are the worst. Good luck, i know you can do it. your little ticker factory thing says 6 days, once you get past the first week, it's all breezy.
