OK, I'm a nut. But when I'm really looking for a specific image or scene or concept when I write my stories (well, one HUGE one as of now!) I listen to music. Here's a sample a friend of mine did for a film he and his friends made.
So on the note of listening to music and talking about which images it conjures, what does this bring to mind? Which deities, even? I always think of some strong deity, no specific one... mostly the warriors and such... Any thoughts?

Oh, and PPS: you need Quicktime for this. Sorry!

It reminds me of ships in battle, or of a war in the skies (with planes and such). It sounds like a neat song, but it's very adventurous. If I would say it describes someone, I would say (to me) it describes Achilles. Achilles, as most know, has a passion for fighting. He's very confident and strong, and this song just reminds me of him. When I think of it, I can imagine him fighting with a long sword and shield; fighting in golden armor that represents the sunset.
I really hope this was the question you were asking, or else I'll be quite embarassed! ^_~

My first thought was...it sounds like it's from Final Fantasy VI. :)

Deity...hmm...sounds like somebody preparing for a hunt or battle. Maybe Artemis or Athena?

You don't need quicktime unless it's encoded in a specifc webpage (or such is the case for me). Just when it asked what to use when you want to open it, just click one of your music programs (Winamp, Windows Media Player, RealPlayer or something else).

The music sounds like someone is getting ready to do something important...like stand on a pedastal or something... are you looking for words to put into your stories? :D

You know, now that I think of it, it kind of reminds me of a war between unusual beings. No, I'm not saying ALIENS, or anything like that, but rather beings from ancient mythology. Or maybe it's a soldier who's army has just won, and he's remembering the battle they all fought. Maybe while he's thinking this, he's going home to his family and he's very happy.
Or maybe it's similar to a boy who longs to fight in the battles, so he joins a crew of sailors to go on adventures. Anything is possible with this music! ^_~

Yay!! I'm so happy--in hindsight I thought this might offend someone; glad people know what I intended.
Sorry about the mix up with Quicktime; that's about all my poor little windows can handle with mp3 files, so once again sorry for the confusion.
I think it (the music) has brought to mind for me a lot of stuff to do with my own writing, but no one would really follow that I don't think. As far as deities go, I definitely think of Athena, and Nike (the Greek goddess of victory, not the shoe! Lol.)

Sounds like a pride, warrior type thing. I can certainly connect this music with Odin, Thor, Athena and a few others.

Nuada first came to my mind, and also Lugh when he's fighting Balor.

My first thought was of Thor fashioning lightning bolts....

A virtuous deity of creation, light, and order, in the moment of his / her craft.

That's what I was going to say.

To me it doesn't have a Norse mythos feel, that's more Wagner. I'm not getting a war god/dess at all. Rather a mythic or fantasy hero riding with important purpose against a backdrop of roiling black clouds. Riding to save a child's life, maybe. It has the cadance of a horse at full canter.
