MAybe some of you as well have made some rather icky experiences with stones.

Felt unconfortable with teh stone, or had insomnia, or became all fuzzy, or whatever.

Please share your personal negative (or side) effects of stones

Some negative experiences:

TURMALIN
Years and years ago I bought a turmilated quarz because I found the stone very beautifull. I put it on and got very very dizzy. Took it of and didn't like the stone anymore. Sometimes I now wear a black tourmaline and it can feel weird in the beginning, getting this sensation of 'being pulled' down also making me a bit unfocussed but now it's doesn't feel bad anymore. I love tourmaline but it feels like a very strong and vibrant stone, it feels like I'm not ready for it somehow.

CHRYOPRASE
I love the beautiful colour of chrysoprase as it reminds me of spring but when I put it on a necklace I just want to get rid of it. Apparently I can only enjoy this stone from a distance.

ROSE QUARZ
I have had problems with self image and self love (and therefore accepting love) for years. I read that a rose quarz could help but when I wore it I felt enourmous grief. I switched it for rhodochrosite and that stone feels very warm and loving. Kunzite is also good but doesn't feel as strong as rhodochrosite to me. I read that rose quarz is less powerfull than rhodochrosite so I don't understand why it makes me so very sad and down. If someone can give me the answer it would be very much appreciated as I feel that this stone is talking to me in a way I don't understand.

The only stone I have a problem with is Hematite. It totally drains me of all energy. It's like all good thoughts and all happiness is being sucked out of me. It's actually a really scary feeling, it's so powerful.
Hate that stone...

Would Ivory be considered a stone? I know it's an animal husk but it's used alot in jewelry. Anywho, I have such a bad reaction to it if I put it on my body that part of my body will start hurting immensely. I don't know why but it sucks.

I slept with my amethyst, red jasper, crystal quartz, and rose quartz one time and well I ended up feeling drowsy and when i went to go lay down I like felt really disconnected ..like i was awake but I wasn't..and i felt like someone was tryin to pull my spirit out of my body..I never tried that again.

Only Hematite,as much as I love it I can't have it on unless I really need it. We have a love hate relasionship that stone and I  I have two hematite braclets that my mother gave me last birthday and if I put them both on I get light headed and quite sicky feelings after a little while. Like Temptation said I feel physicaly drained if I ware them for too long. But its kind of like a little devil for me, it tempts and torments me to put it on. It knows I love it and it knows I love the way it feels and it just sits there tempting me to put it on. I tend to kep the braslets next to my bed now so that when I'm haveing sleepless nights I can just slipthem on and slip off to sleep. I never wear both at the same time anymore, last time I did I got really dizzy and disorientated.

Strangely enough, I don't get on very well with amethyst. I don't know why.. it just doesn't make me feel good.

I've had issues with hematite too.. the whole drainy, sicky sort of thing. but only sometimes.
although I did wear an anklet with small hematite beads for about a year and never had issues with it. Maybe it prefered being closer to the ground. lol.

Interesting too.. my best friend's favorite stones are malachite and amethyst. I disagree with both.. although not as much with malachite. One of my favorite stones is lapis and I have a big lapis pendant that I wear a lot. My friend has a big malachite pendant..
She doesn't get on well with lapis. Quite fascinating seeing as we're so close.

I understand quite a few people don't really like lapis? Surprised I haven't read anything about this yet.

CzechWoods - what are your thoughts on lapis? I'd be interested to know what you think of it and why it is that so many seem to not really like the stone. :)

Wonder about that too. I like lapis myself but somehow it feels kind of very serious to me. Always reminds me of the Emperor of the tarot for no reason at all.

hmmm.. you're right Saleheim.
I was trying to think of how to describe that feeling and couldn't quite.

It's almost as if lapis is a snobby stone and if it doesn't like you.. then well.. it doesn't like you :T
(I remember a time when it didn't like me!)

I've heard that hematite is one of those stones that will drain you? I've read that and heard it from alot of people. But I get lightheaded and feel like I'm floating when I wear it, which can either be a good or a bad thing depending upon the situation.

That's exactly how my lapis feels to me. Love it still though. Snobby or not. :bouncysmi

I've only felt anything strange from a couple of quartz that felt very spikey and sharp to me.

I always thought hematite was a good grounding stone, not that it drained people. But I've heard of so many people who have problems with it that I've been trying to understand why it bothers them. My best guess at this point is that it grounds them too strongly and they need to compensate by opening their crown chakra to universal energy to balance and to replace the negative energies that are being grounded. Or maybe its pulling out something negative that they don't really feel ready to deal with yet. Hmmm.....

My rune stones are hematite and before doing a reading I always ask the person if they have a problem with hematite. I keep a second set of runes made of polished river rocks, or we can switch to the tarot or the oracle cards.

Hmm..Interesting. Well, I think that maybe what happens with me is that I resist the grounding effects of the stone and by doing that I waste a lot of energy in the process. I don't like to feel grounded, I like to be spaced out most of the time.

Ah. That's a possibility that hadn't occurred to me. I like being grounded and sending stuff I don't need into Mother Earth to be transformed. I don't like feeling spacey, maybe because I have ADD and feel that way too much of the time. :hrmm:

Wow..i love my hematite, though i have read so many people struggle with it. I must admit, i found it a very draining stone to start with, made me very low and weepy, though now it helps me so much.
I haven't come across a stone yet that i cannot connect with, though i'm sure it will happen :)

Namaste,

your assossiation is quite impressive.

Lapis is known as the emperor stone. in ancient egypt it was reserved to the priests and emperors exclusively

this is where the conncection could root

Lapis is no easy stone.

it is one often researched by the spiritual seekers, as it strongly openes the third eye - but its other effects, among them the making bossy etc, can impose real challanges on the people using it

lapis should never ne used in bed rooms and needs constant care taking

a bath in hematite every day 4-8 hrs is recommended

Well i've noticed an interesting thing with moonstones.. seems as though I can't keep them. I'll have one on a ring or pendant, and then one day: POOF! its gone. That doesnt happen with any of my other jewelry or pendants. Some say faerys, some say that moonstone is impermanent and goes on to the next user after a period of time.

HMMMMM

Interesting I didn't know that. Maybe that's why as much as I admire the beauty of the stone it really is never 'me'.
I tend to like stones that feel 'lighter' and 'easier'. Maybe that's why I like kyanite that much. It's such a dynamic and cheerful stone, feels like that to me anyway.

very interesting stuff!

I don't know why I love lapis so much? I'm certainly more of a "dynamic and cheerful" person :T

It must be my ancient egyptian side. I feel it helps me connect to my gods :)

other than lapis by favorite stones are labradorite, calcite (clear or yellow), smokey quartz, tigers/hawks eye (I have a stone with both).. and I have a beautiful obsidian crystal ball.. the kind that looks like it have layers of glittering golden sand in it - what's that called and what are it's properties? Anyone know? - anyway, I ADORE that crystal ball :loveduv:

Funny, I always thought that lapis was the "cure-all"stone for negative/evil and I picked one out (or it picked me) it was a beautiful blue with a white splash in it. It looked just like a clear sky with one fluffy cloud, and my life rapidly began to spiral down the sewer after I started wearing it. Someone told me to get rid of it,and I did'nt, I just stopped wearing it, and things continued to deteriorate. Maybe I should have sent it on its way :ugh:
The other thing I've been told is not to wear moonstones anymore: since I'm already so empathic I was told the moonstones amplify the "vibes" I already get from other people, and causes my "circuits" to get overloaded,so to speak....but they're so gorgeous!
