Well I have many methods to dealing with stress, but if they do not work I usually wind up sick and with panic attacks.

I was extremely stressed out this past school year. It was crazy. I had so much insomnia that it was horrid. I could never sleep properly. I maybe got a full month and and a half of sleep total throughout the school year. The only times I could sleep properly were during breaks/vacations. This summer, my sleeping 'schedule' has been going haywire, but I'm getting much more sleep than I did this past school year. School is the biggest stressor I have in my life. Luckily, it's summer, and I have less to worry about. I'm hoping next year shall be better.
Other than sleep, I've had a few panic attacks. It's really weird. I've never had them before, so I wasn't sure what to do with them. :/ I've also had a few anger-related outbursts. Things just build up and then explode.

How stressed? Extremely. I try to stay focused on the present moment.
Mindfulness is a great stress reliever. Sometimes I retreat to solitary
places.

Holy crap. I have a large majority of those symptoms.
I've bolded the ones I think I have.
Mental Factors:
Anxiety, fear, poor concentration, memory lapses, tension, irritability, restlessness, worries, inability to relax, depression.
Physical Factors: (I avoided bolding some of the ones in this category because they are embarrasing)
Stiff or tense muscles, grinding teeth, sweating, tension headaches, faintness, choking feeling, swallowing difficulties, stomachache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, frequency and urgency of urination, loss of interest in sex, tiredness, shakiness or tremors, change in weight, awareness of heartbeat.
Behavior Factors:
Avoidance of tasks; sleep disturbances; trouble completing assignments; fidgeting; tremors; strained face; clenched fists; crying; changes in drinking, eating or smoking behaviors; change in sociability; change in quality of relationships.
Uh... I think I need to take a chill pill or something. If it's any consolation they've been lessening in the past few days. :/
Gah! I have issues!

Exceptionally. Hell, I'm stressed right now and trying to ward off a morning anxiety attack by staying up all night! I won't go into the disgusting details, but I end up getting very nauseated when I get that bad. :dis:
Years after we recognised it for what it is, and I'm still in square-1.

One word- Xanax! JK, kind of.
I have had an extremely stressful year with no end in sight. Health probs, family probs, financial probs, you name it, I've been through it. No deaths though, thank the gods.
I tried to do relaxation tapes, being outside, reading a good book. Soemtimes they would work, but only for a short period, then I'd be back to full blown panic attacks. My dr. finally put me on a very low dose of Xanax and it really is helping. Now I just get an occasional anxiety attack, which is very dealable compared to a panic attack.
I guess my point is to try all stress reucing techniques that you can. Give them time. But if they don't work, there is nothing wrong with a little pharm. aid.
(hey that would make a great benefit concert :rotfl: )

I have a friend that you just reminded me of...He dropped out of high school because of anxiety, though no one's sure if stress or anything else caused it. A psychiatrist recently suggested that he may be avoidant, which is worse...But, still, these things are surmountable. Another friend of mine had problems with anxiety for years, but he eventually got out of that rut. So it's do-able. :)
Oh, back to the original post, I realise I forgot to mention anything to help get out of stress. Well, what's been helpful to me is getting out of school, haha. Since that's not always an option, there's meditation, exercise, relaxing music, hobbies such as painting or reading, &c. Another thing is not to worry too much about things' being perfect or to worry too much about deadlines. Procrastinators have to worry, but the thing about procrastination is that it causes too much stress: getting work out of the way to have fun is much more rewarding than having fun and the frantically working on something the night before.

1) When Im stressed out I get headaches and I squint my eyes sometimes really shut.
2) When Im stressed/mad I clean. There is only so much you can clean until the white comes off the walls, then its back to 1) :hahugh:

Well until I came to Germany, I thought I knew what it was like to relax.....boy was I wrong! Never before in my life have I been as free as I am right now, I gave myself time to relax, it's a new feeling and I did do a lot of 'de-toxicing' here too, I mean I got sick left and right, but I think that was becuase my whole life I have been under stress and this is the first time in a LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG time that I haven't been under stress....now the job is to keep my life simple so I don't get back into my old patteren! :reading:

I read a book. That's my best way to de-stress.
Or... I hug my son. Somehow, that little man just makes everything seem OK. :)
