I was "approached" ,I guess is the only way of putting it lol, by my Goddess some time ago, when I started on my Path. I suppose She came to guide me on my way and help in general life (which She does very well!). But, try as I mite, I simply can't put a name to Her----I can see her so clearly in my mind, Her sacred place like a santuary in my mind, but because I can;t seem to name her I don't feel like I truely know Her and can't really honor Her properly, know what i mean? Any suggestions, like divining to find out? Or is it just one of those things I will find out as I the further I embark along my path (which is only just beginning---oh the confusion of it all!! :woah: :bangyourh )

You can always try asking for a name.

The way that worked for me? I divined it.
I used my pendulum and first had it help me narrow down a pantheon. Then I asked it to help me spell out the letters. So, I asked if the name of said deity began with an 'A'. (Yes or No.) If Yes, I moved on to the next letter in the name, if no, I moved to the next letter of the alphabet.
Tedious yes, but it worked.

I was in a very similar situation for a long time. I reached out for something, emotionally, and found something I think is best described as a "goddess". From teh very start I felt like I'd known her for years already, but I didn't know who she was. It just felt wrong to ask, and I figured she's reveal it when/if she wanted to.
She still hasn't filled me in on who she is, exactly, but through somewhat extensive study I have matched her up with a historical goddess who I think she might be. Well, at least how my pitiful little brain interprets a diety of the Universe, anyway - in one sense to try to pigeonhole her is silly, but I work well with metaphor and symbolism, and I feel that she's OK with that.

Maybe just start asking Her for a name, or ask if She'll give you some clues as to who She is.

i agree with this. just try asking Her, and if that fails, try divining.

You could try looking for symbols and imagining environments She'd naturally fit in. If you can't properly visualise anything, ask for hints. Deities typically have various symbols, animals, times of day/seasons, &c. that they are associated with, and She can drop hints for you.

These all are great approaches....you will find you way....she will find you too.

Thats great advice :thewave:
I actually get the feeling that Shes laughing at me down here trying so hard just to find out Her name! :veryweird
Ive also decided to paint Her as one of my (many) faerie watercolours I do (which I love to do more than anything), to get a real, 'physical' look at Her---but it'll be bloody hard--the hardest Ive ever done ill bet :woah:

Hmmmmmmm... a playful,elusive goddess.....**rubs chin thoughtfully**
I have the opposite problem:when I get a vision of deity or spirit, I can see them SOO clearly but I can't paint or draw for beans :nuhuh:
