For years I've referred to myself as a 'Zen Wiccan.' I view Buddhist beliefs as meshing smoothly with Pagan practices. If you're of similar inclination, please join in! :hmmmmm:

I find Buddhist teachings helpful. "Zen Wiccan" very good term. I'm not Wiccan.
How about "Zen Pagan"? :) Yes, the teachings do mesh smoothly with Pagan
practices. I'm more a philosophical Taoist than a Buddhist. I don't know if I'd
consider myself "Zen". I just am. I'm sure you understand that.

They can mesh quite well, yes. I'm not as Eastern-oriented as others may be, but I respect and admire Eastern teachings. I formally studied Hinduism in a World Religions class, and it was great. I also sat in on a lecture on Sikhism...but anyway, I used to be really interested in Confucianism, though that's more useful for political structures, I've found. Nevertheless, I still rejoice in teachings of Buddhism and Hindisuim. Taoism is also intriguing, though I'm not as familiar with it as I'd like to be.

I could never find one single religion that satisfied me spiritually. So, i have mixed wicca, buddhism, hinduism, and lots of little pieces of New Age lore. It works for me! If you look, most religions are very similar. So you can mix and match!! lol!

It's true...many religions can work together greatly and eventually merge into new traditions. There was another thread on this very subject a few months back and I will say what is aid there here: the fundamentals of Buddhism is that of self realization to the truth of our beings and of the real world...many religions seek communion with what we call God, and yet if looked at truth and God are one in the same really...whats different is merel the human based dogma. It doesnt really matter whether you are Vaishnava...Vajrayana...Christian, Muslim or Zen...what matters only is that we are fulfilled through our spiritual journey and the realization that many human based things are not really true expressions of the Divine/truth. Or soemthing alone those lines. :D. And after all...is not Zen the concept of attaining enlightenment by actions and undoubting concentration on a single event or object? Wiccan rituels could be seen as a form of meditation...and thus you are practicing Zen with that...well, atleast if I understandZem...*shrugs* namaste

Last year, I enjoyed an eclectic reading class on the history of Western (England and American) twentieth-century and Eastern cross-current teachers--Krishnamurti, Alan Watts, Ram Dass, Thomas Merton and a Tibetian writer...it filled a void, as my grandmothers also passed away last year...this year, I'm slowly looking into some of the family ancestral ways and some combined paths locally...hope the link below might assist...

More like I'm feeling my way back....step by step...

There is a definite element of zen in my practices. You're quite right that Buddhism and paganism blend nicely. :)

I am not wiccan, but buddhist-pagan might fit. I'm always looking into different religions to see what feels right. But that's the great thing about buddhism. You are supposed to find your own way. :farmerjoe

Wow! I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only Buddhist Witch around. After being a Zen student for over ten years, I began to study Witchcraft after a series of strange "coincidences" led me there. One year later, I've discovered that I probably would have made a lousy Witch without the balance that Buddhism has provided me. Zen meditation and practice have allowed me to learn how to deal with serious emotional baggage I was carrying around that would have affected my work as a Witch. I have found the two "spiritualities" to be very compatible, and I continue to find ways for them to complement one another while working with teachers in both disciplines. I feel very fortunate to have been guided to such amazing and understanding teachers. I'm pretty used to feeling like the oddball in a group, but it's nice to see that there are others of a similar Zen-Pagan bend.
