What counts as natural, and what doesn't? I know that silk is, and I know that real leather is, but I can't get hold of either!

Natural fabrics usually refer wool, linen, hemp, cotton, silk, leather. Either in 100% or in a percentage of natural fibres. Things like rayon, viscose, nylon, etc are synthetics.
I remember seeing a tag on a bolt of fabric that listed "2% unknown". Really made me think twice about buying it! Hate to think what fell in the vat!
What are you using it for? I'm such a nosy person! :p

Thanks guys, thats a lot of help! I have finally got my hands on a sowing machine (I'm really not good enough to hand sow) and I'm trying to find some fabric to make a bag for my tarot cards, my gems and I'll probably make on for my BOS, as I can only afford a cheap one.

Rayon is a natural fabric
by that I mean that it is made from wood pulp (celleouse, which is natural and its why it actually breaths) (viscose is the German word for Rayon...its the same thing)
It is synthitic only in that it is acted upon...it isn't in fabrick in a natural state...but it is not like polyester--although the process doesn't look pretty...
but apart from its processing, it is a natural fabric

Hemp is natural, and far more environmentally friendly that cotton

Wow! I love learning something new! Xois, I never knew that about rayon!
Lily Mai, 100% cotton broadcloth is quite cheap, usually. Or you can check out thrift stores for cotton shirts & things. You can find neat pattern cotton shirts that you can take apart for the fabric. You can do a cleansing on them first to get rid of the "other people energies". You can probably find silk shirts there for cheap too.

Ramie is a natural fabric as well. And I don't know if you count angora or alpaca as wool, since they don't come from sheep, but they are usually made into yarn and knitted like wool, but they are natural too.
