This is so disturbing... I don't even know how I would react to finding this in my backyard.
"FLORAL PARK, N.Y. - A man's right leg fell from the wheel well of a South African jetliner on landing approach to John F. Kennedy International Airport, hit a garage roof and bounced into the backyard of a Long Island home, authorities said Tuesday."

Now, how in the hell did he forget his leg there?

I probably wouldn't think it was fake like the woman in the article.

Heh.. I read this on Netscape yesterday and was thinking "Huh?"
Very odd story, and I would've hated to be the person whose parts landed in their yard. Yipes.

So that's where it disappeared to. I've been looking all over for that thing. I wonder if they'll ship it back to me or I'll have to drive to Long Island and pick it up. I hope I don't have to pay for shipping. I don't have a leg to stand on.
Ba-dum, tssch!!!
Sorry, but air fares are becoming outrageous. Soon they'll cost an arm AND a leg, not just a leg.
Oh!
To make up for the high fares, the airline wanted to put their best foot forward, but someone misunderstood the memo.
And they wanted to get a leg up on their competition.
Ahem.
Sorry, I'll go away now.

Was it during the last leg of the journey?
*leaves the thread singing: "Body parts keep fallin' on my head"*
ok, now I had to get that all out, because the actual truth in the matter is that I felt very bad about this when I first heard it... I almost can't listen to the news any more, because I have the problem of feeling like I'm experiencing it firsthand and it takes forever to get it out of my mind... so please don't anyone think I'm being cruel or anything... just my crazy sense of humor taking over...

At first, I imagined someone up against a wall at the baggage claim, leaning on one leg and waiting for their other leg to show up with the rest of their luggage...

He mustn't have noticed the sign in the plane that says, "Please keep arms and legs inside the ride at all times."

Maybe it had a note on it saying that a load of prisoners had taken over a plane carrying some of the most dangerous criminals of our time, but not to worry, nicholas cage was there, ready to save the day.

I find it rather sad... being so desperate for a better life, that you are pushed to getting yourself killed in the process. I can see the story is bizarre, but I fail to see the fun.

Granted ….
This story is very sad ...
And thankfully, it didn't happen to one of us, or a loved one, or someone we know.
( not that because it happened to a stranger makes it "less" horrific )
But real life is full of terrible, often horrific situations.
And if we didn’t try to find the humor in our day to day living ..
Well …
I think our minds and spirits would surely shrivel up and die for all the darkness, pain, and suffering that we each endure.
So I say “thanks you guys”
For finding the humor in such terrible circumstances.
It doesn’t mean we lack compassion or empathy …
It means that the human spirit is strong enough to find the bright, as opposed to the dark, and make a conscious decision to move towards it.

:caffeine: It made me have flashbacks to that movie too! :alol:
but joking aside, I really like what Dove said... I think that is the perfect way of putting it... about the humor part... if I didn't do this, I really would be still tormenting myself over the actual events that happened to the poor guy (even if he did bring it on himself, because I'm just sappy like that inside... can't stand to actually take the depth of focusing on the real pain... it would drive me insane...)
:hugz: for Dove and everybody here... and :hugz: for the people who were actually involved, whoever and wherever they are...
