I'm new here at P and F...My name is Allison and I've been trying to be a Pagan since I was very young. I had no idea it would be so hard or so expensive. Does anyone know a way to practice the Craft in secret for a low cost?
(Attached is one of my geekiest photos ever...I looked like a dork)

Stop reading so many "how to" manuals.
Spirituality is far from expensive, your soul was given to you free of charge, why does it have to pay to be what it is?

In my house I learned two ways of being religious. One was to follow structure and mandates, the other was "go with the flow, do what's right for you".

For some people the second IS the first.
But for others, like me.. sometimes it means thinking happy thoughts at dinner, smiling at a baby and whispering something in his ear when he is crying, sometimes its a visit to the beach and dancing to the music of the waves and moonlight.

A ritual sometimes involves kitchen utensils on a dining room table, or my trinkets of childhood on my dresser.

"I was once asked by a friend how I talked to the Gods.
I took his hand, told him to get in the car. We drove out to a park, and entered the foresty part. I said "well here we are"
he said "yeah but how do you talk to them?"

I turned to the trees.. looked around, up and down and yelled "OH GODS!!!!!I'm BACCCCCCCCK!"

He then said "how do you know if they talk back?"

"I listen"
was the reply I gave him"

Thanks for the big welcome! I should stop reading "how to" manuals. I was looking at this beginner's guide on a site and it said you have to buy tons of herbs and candles. Plus, the ceremonies for self dedication and to charge your tools are a little expensive. The book said to buy a chalice, a black bowl or cauldron, an athame, an incense burner, and a book of shadows. I'll also need wormwood, modeling paint, two candles(black and white), a cup, salt, water, mayches or a lighter, basil, and nutmeg. I know I can get some of that in the kitchen and some at a hardware store, but I don't know what my mom will say about it. She always jokes about being a Pagan, but I don't know what she'd say or do if she found out I'm actually attempting to be one. Is there a way to convince her it's not bad or at least practice in secret? Thank you for your help. ^_^
