Upavistha Konasana (Wide-Angle Seated Forward Bend) (http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/684_1.cfm)

Bidalasana (Cat Pose) (http://www.abc-of-yoga.com/yogapractice/cat.asp)

Adho Mukha Shvanasana (Dog Pose) (http://www.abc-of-yoga.com/yogapractice/dogpose.asp)

Other practices that are wonderful for this chakra are brought to you from Earthy in the original class.

1. Stimulating with exercise

Begin this exercise for your sacral chakra by standing up straight, with your knees slightly bent and your pelvis dropped forward. Keeping your knees bent and flexible, rotate your pelvis in gradually decreasing clockwise circles, and then slowly increase the rotation size. Repeat the exercise, this time rotating in anti clockwise circles. Your head and feet should remain completely still while you’re doing this exercise, and the movement you are seeking to emulate is similar to those used in belly dancing. Repeat the exercise 6 times in each direction.

Added by Shatril—using the same basic stance, rock the pelvis front to back without moving the head up and down.

2. Calming with Aromatherapy

Anoint yourself with a few drops of chamomile, lavender, or ylang-ylang essential oil just below the navel. Lie on your bed and relax. Breathing deeply, inhale to a count of 4, and exhale to a count of 8.Allow the relaxing and soothing energy of the oil to soak into your body, and feel it calming the sacral chakra as you continue to breathe deeply for a few minutes longer.

3. Calming with crystals

Begin by anointing the pulse points on your wrists with frankincense oil. Then sit cross legged, (to relieve strain on your back you may want to use a cushion or folded blanket) breathe deeply and hold a piece of aquamarine or rutilated quartz just below your navel. Close your eyes, relax and say “Through balance I am open to change, and can create the future I desire”. Sit still for a few minutes and allow the calming energy of the crystal to balance your sacral chakra.

4. Relaxing Meditation

Lie on the floor with your arms out at 45 degrees to your body, and your knees bent so that your feet are pulled up to your body with the soles touching each other. This position will stimulate your sacral chakra. Now meditate for a few minutes on your sacral chakra and feel its energy moving like the flowing tides. Visualize orange energy flowing around your body, and back to your sacral chakra.

5. Movement

It is important in working with your second chakra that you find time for movement every day. Play music and dance freely when nobody is watching, or if comfortable for you SO. Take walks, run, and bicycle, make love, take belly dancing lesson (there are tapes for this).

This was extraordinarily easy! I have been, in the past, a professional belly dancer and have been teaching workshops recently.

As always, the yoga was wonderful and has even inspired me to start taking classes again.

The aromatherapy was modified slightly due to my unfortunate allergies to fragrance oils, I put it on cotton near the intended contact points and inhaled the fragrance from there.
