Ok, this is another stone I need help identifying, the friend that gave it to me said it is botswana agate, but I know this is not true. I believe I have seen it called Silver Leaf Jasper or Silver Leaf Agate. Any ideas?
It is not transparent at all and is scratched ever so slightly by a quartz point if pressure is applied.
Thanks!!

Could be Sardonyx, a mix of the stones sarder and onyx

i agree on your scepticism about the botswana agate.

the picture shows the a/aa quality of "ordinary" pink and grey colours of botswana agate
biotswana agate is usually laced, in shades of grey and also some peach colours at times. I have had and seen blue laced chalcedony agates from botswana, and now have just come across the most beautiful botswana agate in ages, combining natural blue, purple,, green and grey and peach-pink colours - laced and endlessly beautiful
I should be posting pics of those - they are really breath-taking
but it is possible your sardonyx comes from botswana. what makes me sceptical is the black part

Hmm, I hadn't thought of Sardonyx. Could be, but I'm not convinced, it doesn't really resemble any of the sardonyx I've seen. I'll keep looking in to sardonyx and other stones too! Thanks for your input!:nicetie:

it is possible its silver leaf jasper - but I havent seen silver leaf jaspers striped the way the stone is. But doesnmt mean it isnt.
I was contemplating whether it isnt an onyx marble stone, but that one would be easy to scratch with clear quartz or a needle.
scratches head

grrr
hmmm, it looks like pudding jasper too.
whichj might be silver leaf, and granite, it looks like granite too with that grey

This is EXACTLY the way I feel! I know I've seen it before, but for the life of me can't remember what it was called. I may just be connecting this stone and the name silver leaf jasper in my head for some unknown reason!
