we have to wait two years?
How about instead of giving up public life, she use her *cough* brains and talents (whew that was tough to get out!) to repair some of the damage she has done as a "role model" for young girls and teens.

Hopefully this will mean we will see the demise of the "stupid spoiled whore" trend.

Not to worry. There are plenty of others to take her place. I would at least like to have the satisfaction of seeing Paris left out in the sun long enough to melt.

There is such a thing as a Contract, and I'm sure she's signed one for The Simple Life that she can't just 'get out of'.

We have worse problems in the world that young girls/teens having tarnished role models. Or are you seriously claiming that you never had a role model that didn't act stupid at some point in their life?

How many people idolized Michael Jackson?

Yeah, but that doesn't mean this issue should be ignored.

Or are you seriously claiming that you never had a role model that didn't act stupid at some point in their life?
The key phrase here is "at some point in their life." There's a difference between that and making a career out of it.

How many people idolized Michael Jackson?
That's something that has always baffled me.

How many people idolized Michael Jackson? You're kidding, right?
What I wrote was meant partially tongue-in-cheek. I get that she has a contract. I can't imagine The Simple Life sticking around two more years. Just MHO.

Oh I know there are worse problems in the world- but she isn't making it any better. And she doesn't act stupid at one point, but most points. She admits to perpetuating the "dumb blond" party girl image.
There are few positive role models for kids because most of them fall onto the dumb actress role that she plays so well. I don't want my daughter thinking that everything she and her friends do is "cool."

At any rate, everyone is entitled to their own opinion... and this is mine.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean this issue should be ignored.I never said it should be .. but you're ignoring the dozen or more other 'bad role models' to harp on one. Or are you just prejudiced against rich pretty blondes because you could never get one?

Has Paris Hilton made a career out of it? Michael Jackson sure has, and look where it's taken him. And I think you might have a different definition of 'career' than I do.
career
a. A chosen pursuit; a profession or occupation.
b. The general course or progression of one's working life or one's professional achievements
What Paris Hilton has acheived by portraying herself as she has, and I defy you to prove me wrong, is an incredible fan base that will follow her now for years to come. She didn't need to ever lift a finger to remain rich and famous, yet she has plans.

Another point that should be made is that she's 20 years old. She hasn't had a chance to grow up yet .. like so many child celebrities. Remember how hard it was in your late teens to early 20's? Think how much harder it would be with paparazzi always in your face.

My point is .. judging ANYONE so harshly without knowing what's in their heads, what they've gone through, is simply bigotry, and shouldn't be tolerated anywhere .. most certainly not here on MW.

Excuse me? The reason I'm "harping on one" is because she's the subject of the thread. I find most celebreties annoying. I can't f***ing stand Michael Jackson and make no secret of it in the thread about him. Because I don't like Paris Hilton I'm prejudiced against rich pretty blondes? Getting a wee bit personal here, aren't we? Are you her publicist or something? Besides, Paris Hilton isn't pretty. She looks like she rolled off an assembly line.

What Paris Hilton has acheived by portraying herself as she has, and I defy you to prove me wrong, is an incredible fan base that will follow her now for years to come.
So what? The same is true of Hitler.

She didn't need to ever lift a finger to remain rich and famous,
She would've been far better off if she had.

yet she has plans.
Such as? Another sex video, maybe?

This is a total cop out. No one put a gun to her head and forced her to become a celebrity. She could have easily inherited her trust fund and lived a quiet life.

My point is .. judging ANYONE so harshly without knowing what's in their heads, what they've gone through, is simply bigotry, and shouldn't be tolerated anywhere .. most certainly not here on MW.
Ah. Forming an opinion of someone based upon that person's actions is bigotry and shouldn't be tolerated. We don't know what was going on in the head of, say, the Zodiac Killer, so I guess we shouldn't judge him. I love it how someone who rails so mightily against being judgmental can then turn around and make statements like , "Or are you just prejudiced against rich pretty blondes because you could never get one?"

It seems really funny to me that no one that I can think of finds her attractive, yet she has a reputation for being really hot. In fact, most people I know think she's sort of scary looking!

I'm glad she's giving up the public life. I'm sick of hearing about her. Jeez.

Personally I think she looks like an android. "Greetings. I am a pleasure droid model one oh one." She also reminds me of a department store manequin that got up and started walking around.

The episode of the Twilight Zone, where the mannequin is told by the head one that her time is up and she has to go back to the store...

That is if the marriage lasts 2 years!

How about 20 yrs? Will anyone even remember who she was? Most likely not..unless she's done something worth remembering, then I seriously doubt anyone will care. And exactly what made her a legend at the age of 20? Did she stop hunger? Achieve world peace? Save someone from dying? She hasn't done anything that qualifies her for that honour. :noway:

Yeah.. Caught this story on Netscape the other day. This girl is famous for doing nothing. Can anyone honestly say that we'll miss her? Bah. Good riddance. Can ya push up that retirement a little bit, Paris? Now sounds good.
