:reading: i have looked through all my years of gathered information. and study notes. and something has been seen more than twice in the past week that i can't say has ever happened to me before in my life and i don't know what it means. :reading: :hmmmmm:
this sis what has happened more twice so far this week not even 100 feet infront of me.
there has been a cardinal and a blue jay that has showed up every time i go out side to sit on the porch and relax for a few minutes. and they just fly around playfully with each other. infront of me for a little bit. then they stop and fly to the buxh which is at the bottom of my poarch. and sit and just stair at me.they will even allow me to get close enough to touch them with out them flying away. yet i don't touch them out of respect for them. i have tried to ask them what it is they are trying to let me know. but they just seem to get upset and fly away when i ask. and then return a few days later to do it all over again.
if someone could please help me to figure out what they are trying to tell me. and what the omen is to see those 2 birds seperate and together it would be greatly appreicated. also .if anyone could recommend a book that discuss omens and superstitions. that i could purchase. that would be helpful too.
blessed be

Dixiewitch, Since both Cardinals and Bluejays are native to North America, Celtic lore may not have particular lore on these particular birds, since most extant knowledge from the mythology comes primarily from remaining literature in Ireland and Wales.
You may find more pertinent information on these particular bright colored birds' meanings in the mythology of various Native American tribes. I recall reading that the Cardinal represents liveliness, joyous life-force and also self-importance (which could mean pride or self respect.)
The bluejay represents appropriate use of power, influence, control.
Cardinals of the Catholic church were named before the Native American red finch was named cardinal, but they wore a bright red hat. The bird apparently reminded setttlers of these "church princes." There are some references to red-birds in European writings pre-American settling referring to cardinals of the church too. There may be something here in the name of the bird that is tweaking your mystical senses?
There is a jay in GB, but it is not the bright blue of the NA jay. I haven't found any particular lore about jays in the literature of Druids, though I have not read all of it yet.
All in all I would suggest that these birds may be coming to your area/aura to enjoy it/you rather than to give a negative sort of message. Sometimes a message is one of joy, you know?
If you are getting a strong impression that these birds want to give you an omen that is negative, perhaps you should investigate that as you would a dream meaning, ie: what do these birds signify to you personally?
Sometimes imitating their songs by whistling, or just their notes by singing their tunes in your own voice can help you find a better communication with birds. Jays have a squawking voice, and are related to crows, (however since crows are also abundant here, I would not associate the Celtic crow lore with bluejays, but with crows.)
Cardinals have a rather cheery song.
You might also investigate the color meanings of red and blue, and what red and blue mean to you.
I hope this has been of help to you.

I don't know. I am not sure whether your coven has "rules" that you observe that would preclude Druidry.
For myself, I would not tell anyone what they can and cannot believe. I would welcome you to post here anytime and explore things via the search, and decide for yourself!
Today's Druidry is often seen as more a philosophy than a religion, by some writers. Those will tell you yes.
There are several articles regarding Wicca and Druids here in this very forum. You might want to investigate that by going to "search" within it, and typing in "Wicca." You will find links and opinions there that might help you.
Also there a many sites offered in the beginning thread (the locked one at the top) that have some information on the differences and commonalities between the two.
Most "Druid" sites I have visited have a Wiccan group that comes there too.
It seems to me that generally there is great respect between the majority of Wiccans and Druids, and some are married to one another!
One of the differences I have noticed (although I have never been Wiccan, I have read a lot about it) is in the poetry and song of the Bardic tradition. I haven't come across such a tradition in Wicca in my reading, though I don't mean to suggest that Wiccans don't love both.
I study Druidry, and am sometimes called a Druidess, or a Bard, or a Vate. But I haven't labelled myself thusly, and call myself a "seeker." However, since most Druids identify with "seeking the truth" I suppose that may be mostly a matter of semantics and my aversion to labels...;)
I think you will be delighted with all you find here, just don't get discouraged for people here love to debate among themselves and may give many answers to the same question. I think that is really a good thing, for Druids were the intelligentsia of the ancients and when discussion stops, intelligence becomes stagnant and may become too dogmatic IMO...:D

Thank you..
You are most welcome! BTW I started with the lessons. I think they are a good way to start out.
They are in the link locked at the top, in order, and quite fun to do. If you choose to do them,
don't worry that the threads are "old" for they are often renewed again like a cycle. And you do not have to read the whole thread to start, in fact you shouldn't! Just read the directions and begin!
Also don't worry about what you will say, just relax and enjoy and say what comes to you.
When you put in an answer, the threads come back to the top and someone will be along to cheer you on sooner or later!
