Hello,
Good afternoon. Is it just me or do other people have an aversion to wearing any kind of jewellery? My skin burns if I wear something for too long. It doesn't matter if the jewels are made of silver, gold or pewter (even cords with something dangling on it), ithey tend to cause me bad skin irritation. I wore a nice ring for a few weeks until it started itching, then I removed the ring to find the skin was peeling off the area of my finger and it was raw red. Is there any kind of jewellery that's gentle on highly sensitive skin? BTW I don't have pierced ears either and I can't even wear a watch.

Often it is the level of acidity in the skin. I don't have an answer for how to deal with it. Of course there is hypoallergenic's and titanium, but maybe you can research adjusting the body's acidity????

Hmm, if that's the case, I wonder if frequently washing the jewelry where it contacts the skin might help, or the skin itself in the area, maybe just rinsing with water... (although too frequent washing of a given spot on the body could lead to worse irritation, I suppose...)

get an allergy test done.
the reactions you describe could be ecsema allergies (contact allergies) I suspect nickel and copper.
often gold 18karat and more will provoke less allergies, but that is not necessarily the case.
I would sugest you try elexirs with peridot and aventurine, to improve your skin.
if wearing jewelry is no option, you can still use ameidcine bag you carry on your body, and be it in your pocket

Some people are allergic to all metals if there is prolonged contact. If you have tried 18k gold and are still having the problem, I would say that is probably your case.

My skin is sensitive too and I don't like wearing jewelry for that reason.

I'm pretty resistant to metal... my skin is like a rhino! Heh.
I get 'burns' from wearing crystals that I don't need the influence of. Say... if I nolonger need the effects of my turquoise terminator pendant to help me from being a wlaking disaster... it starts to burn or irritate my skin. If I wear non-cleansed crystals too it happens.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've got a slight anemic problem and my skin is very sensitive. I've got some loose crystals and marbles that don't burn my skin when I touch them, as they feel as pleasent as ice. Only metals hurt my skin so I can't wear jewellery.

My husband has the same problem. He also has the power to rust guitar strings with a single touch! (Well, maybe not single, but it doesn't take much.)

I read that chrysoprase also contains nickel and that therefore some people will also get allergies of this stone? Do you have any idea if this is a true problem?
