ROSEBURG, Ore. - A newborn kitten recently entered the world with two faces and, hopefully, at least nine lives.

I think it would be really cool if this cat lived. Imagine, a cat being able to live with 2 faces. It would be a fascinating study in which would be the dominant face, if they would be equal. If both could perform equally, if there were more than one personality. I just thought this was really interesting.

Except for the tongues, it's actually kinda cute. I like how it was born a Gemini and is dual faced. Very fitting. I like it. A little disturbing; a show of the downfalls of incest/inbreeding. One brain? Did it say?

There was one like this born a few months ago too. I think it died after a week or so though, but I can;t remember.

I hope this one doesn't die! It's not fair. The cat didn't ask to be THAT unique.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. You also see a lot of mutations like that in farm animals.

Well, she was born June 12th and it's June 21 and I haven't seen any further articles about her. They would have updated if she'd died, wouldn't they?

Maybe she's going to make it! Beautiful little kitten. Maybe two faces equals twice the purr!

i hope she isn't suffering... as long as she isn't in pain or anything, i hope she lives.. i don't see why that would be painful... i wonder if one face is independant of the other... anyways, i hope she is treated like a normal cat instead of a freakshow...

The poor kitten/s won't be able to chew food the way the jaws are fused. It's probably being hand fed formula but it won't be able to survive without a lot of help. I hope the kitten is in loving hands.

I hope it's in loving hands too. That's gotta be difficult once it's able to open his/her eyes. Can you imagine how confusing that's gonna be? Poor kitty, I wish nothing but the best for the wee one.

The comment about things being common in farm animals- I beg to differ.

We have been raising all sorts of livestock since I was about 7. Not saying we have a huge farm or anything, but the fact is, even with farm animals, if responsible breeding practices are used, these things are very, very uncommon.

Even when breeding soemthing for the terminal market, you need to breed carefully because unsoundness will come back to get you, and breeding too closely will eventually bring out the bad traits along with the good ones.

I feel so bad for that kitty. It might not live a long life. Poor thing
