Cuz Yule was set on the date of the 25th for people that didn't have access to stone henge, and the Yuletide carols worked their ways into peasent celebrations.

I think.

I can't speak for ALL christians but I remember when I used to go to church with my parents. The Yuletide carols were sung along with the "christian" ones because they were traditional & I don't think most realized the pagan influences. Like I said, can't speak for ALL christians. :D

BTW, I've never heard that about Yule being on the 25th for those who don't live near Stonehenge. I'm curious why? Yule is the winter solstice & usually falls on Dec 21 (give or take a day).

I was refering to ancient peasents, becasue they couldn't predict or tell when it was.

As I understand this, Yule , Christmas, the Solar New Year, and the first day of winter (the Winter Solstice) are all amalgamated into the same holidays . Of course Yule is much older than Christianity, as it was brought to the northern European frontier by the advancing Teutons, Slavs and Celts, who all had identically the same nature-worship religion as is mentioned in the Bible, in Hosea chapter 4:11-14. (The scattered House of Israel). It was the Roman Church who decided to amalgamate all these holidays to one festival -into a Church liturgy. That the 25th was chosen because then, when the winter solstice occured, it was on or near the 25th of December, But since that time (about 1700 years ago) the precession of the equinoxes has shifted the winter solstice (and the Tropical Zodiacal signs) gradually, to the 21st. of Dec. Also the change of calendars must also be taken into account from the Gregorian to the present system. From an older post on this site, that Jesus Christ was not born on the Winter Solstice, but on the Israeli "Feast of Trumpets" as is inferred in the gospel of Luke, chapter 2. This holy day occured just before the time as the Jewish New Year, being late September or early October.
