Litha in the Park ~ A Summer Solstice Celebration!
Sunday, June 26th, 2005 from Noon to 6:00PM
Freedom Park ~ Shelter #5
1900 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203
With Summer quickly approaching, many plan their well-earned vacations to enjoy the beach, the mountains and any other way they can think of to get away from the “every-day” grind. All the while a small group of people, known as CP Events, plan something a little different. A Celebration. A way to pay homage to the every-day and all that it offers.
Summer Solstice has always been a time to be cherished by the Pagan community. Summer is a reminder of wonderful things to come. With this also comes the notion of religious tolerance. Although Paganism is as old as the day, there are still some misunderstandings that accompany the word. This year’s celebration brings hope that we can help educate those interested in learning. With all the negativity surrounding the world today, it’s a time for people to remain open-minded and welcoming to their neighbor regardless of race, religion or creed.
Join us along with the faeries in our festivities of food, fun and frolic. Attached you will find a general schedule of events which include fun for the kids, an official welcoming of the season as well as a pot-luck for all to participate. Litha in the Park will also serve to collect supplies to benefit the North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue. Donations can serve as admission. Eligible donations include Sam’s Club brand dry dog food as well as sturdy leashes, collars, plastic dog house, dog crates, etc. NMAR is a small non-profit rescue in Charlotte, North Carolina and we look forward to assisting them in working with the rescue dogs waiting for homes while in their care.
General Info:
When ~ Sunday, June 26th, 2005 from noon to 6:00PM
What To Bring ~ A donation for NMAR, a drum and/or other acoustic instrument (if so inclined), a dish (to participate in the potluck).
