Dear Friend,
It’s not often that we have the time to write to one of our clients. After what we’ve been told about you, we’ve been wondering about you.
In fact, we have had a potent vision about the future. This rare vision may change your life. Friend, you must have a strong energy field because we were able to see details about where you’re going to go and what you’re going to do!

Friend, dial 1-800-755-1179.
In truth, we see you, Friend, and others close to you in the near future enjoying the finer things in life... We see love on the horizon and new friends in your near future, but it’s vital that we read your cards.
Call NOW!

Dear "Miss Cleo",
I read your message and I must say it made my day. You see, despite the fact that it's apparent you have NO idea who I am or what I'm about ( if you did, your cards would have shown you the futility of trying to tell a druid minister with 30 years in paganism about life and the future), well let me break this letter down for you.
"After what we’ve been told about you, we’ve been wondering about you"
Just WHAT was told to you and by WHOM !?? I take my privacy seriously and demand to know where you got info on me!
"In fact, we have had a potent vision about the future. This rare vision may change your life. Friend, you must have a strong energy field because we were able to see details about where you’re going to go and what you’re going to do"
With that knowledge, I did a rune draw for my near and far future and found that indeed, I am to rely on my inner strength and spirit guide because "changes" will cause me to expend excess energy in an undertaking.
"However, we must read your Tarot cards very soon in order to clarify what was seen! If you’re not made aware of certain opportunities that you may come across within the next 72 hours, friend, you may miss your chance to live the life you’ve always dreamed of!"
Hmmmm. If you check, you'll find that runes are mathmatically and intuitively more accurate than the tarot. By the queriant doing the draw as opposed to YOU, the person themselves are the influance as to the reading and it therfore gives more personal and "revelation" insights than the tarot and your snake-oil "readers" could ever hope to. By commercializing and profiting on a very personal and shamanistic interaction with the same results (at times) as mental counseling produces, you cheapen and demean those of us who do it as a integral part of our religion.
I lastly thank you for leading me to the "opportunity" that would come about in my next 72 hours. Mainly to let you know what those of us (me) think of people such as you, those who would PROFIT from the fears and insecurities of others who are not on as firm ground spiritually or mentally as others.
You are disgrace to all who would call themselves seers, psychics, shamans or enlightened in the least. It is money grabbers like you who have kept ALL pagans held in suspect due to their beliefs and practices. I thank my Gods that those who come to me for help do it in spite of the ham sandwich approach to something as serious as their future and mental/spiritual well-being instead of throwing money away to those such as you and yours.
That being said, DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN UNLESS IT IS IN DIRECT REPLY TO THIS LETTER.
Sincerly,
Rev. Robert (Twig) Jones

Miss Cleo is really annoying. I receive her "personal letter" almost daily. Always the same dull "dear friend...we've been wondering...in fact...however...read your Taro cards...your new friend"-crap.
But I have to admit dear Cleo is the most loyal friend I got know. No matter how little attention she gets, she passionately keeps contact. Reminds me of a puppy

Great reply! I just got my very first Miss Cleo email last weekend. I'm trying to figure out where they got their mailing list. I know not from here :) .
I lurk at a few other pagan boards, but haven't registered. Of course, they still might be able to grab my addy if they're clever.
Since it came to my junk home address, I'm betting it came from the Pyramid catalog I get. I've also got a subscription to PanGaia, but they don't have an email addy for me I don't think.

If you went on her site, she somehow gets your e-mail that way.. It happened to a friend of mine as well. I'd say just block her address :D cuz you'll probably be getting more e-mails from her.

Well said, Twig! :D
BTW, I highly recommend the practice of having at least one "junk-mail" address that gets used for all online registrations, "free-offers", contests, etc. Life has gotten better since I quit using my primary email for everything. (actually, I've got 3 now,1 private email,1 forum, chat and mailing list email, and 1 junkmail)

It's called "spambot". They collect email addresses off of every website they can find and then email them.
The easy answer is just to enable your trash folder, delete the email when you get it, or just sign up with a new email address somewhere else. Also, if you can, get an email address that doesn't come from a free server, since more often then not your own server will have sold that email address to companies if you don't.
You can also ask her not to contact you again, but then again it was probably a spambot who sent you that email and all responses are probably ignored anyway.

Hehe!
I wonder about this "Miss Cleo". For instance, I wonder if her accent is real?? I mean, I can just see it. The director of the commercial yells "cut!" and, in a thick Boston accent, she shouts out "Where's my coffee? And bring me an Aspirin, I'm giving myself a headache!!"

Oh Twig,
You did what I did not but wanted to. 320005 ( those are "cat lottery numbers", so I will leave them in......why else would my cat walk on the key board, but to give you lucky lotto numbers? ;)
When I first recieved my "personal letter" from the "Miss Cleo", I thought if she was such a amazing psychic she would know that I was not in need of a "reading". Hmmmmm?
I am glad you replied, even if you only responded to a bot. What a reply! I hope someone gets to read it on "her" end.
Cybele.
P.S. I have a favorite vampire secondary character in a well loved horror fiction novel who is named for you. Do you like Poppy Z. Brite?

I heard on the news last night that New York State is going to file charges agaist Miss Cleo under their telemaketing laws. They think she is ripping people of because when you call her your phone call is rooted to the house of a card reader. This call is long distance for you and could cost you alot of money. Also her staff is told to keep you on as long as they can.

Kelly, I see some interesting things here, you'd better call me right away!
I will open a new hand just for you and the spread can look very interesting. It can have profound effect on your future, especially on important issues like love and money. But Kelly, to fully understand the meaning of these cards you must call me. Actually, I'm so fascinated by your reading that I'm willing to do it for FREE, so please call now.
(Note: Call now for FREE trial reading 1-800-393-1732. There is NO risk and NO obligation at all. First 3 minutes are FREE.)
Truly yours,
P.S. Kelly, if I happen to be available, talk to one of my associates. I told them all about the cards and the promising future they predict, and they are eager to speak to you, call 1-800-393-1732!
I've seen their script. The first three minutes is spent telling you what a wonderful white light person you are and getting all your personal information like your address so they can sell it to someone else. Just reading the script made me feel slimy.

neatly done twig. i have been lucky so far, miss cloe hasn't caught up with me yet, for which i duly thank mithras. just for funzies i'd suggest anyone else that gets one of her e-mails write back in the same vein as twig, using any high sounding title you like, and give her an equally thorough scolding. as for me, if she turns up in my e-mail box i'll become a "high priest of the temple of mithras" and have a word or two to say. in her recent commercials she has been raving about people "trying to stop her" so i think new york has served papers on her, ordinarily i'd be annoyed on a "freedom of religion" basis but there is no real religion here, (though shamanism is a real and valid path which i respect even though i do not follow it.) just a cheap charlatan no better than the "christian" t.v. mountebanks who do not represent real christianity any more than "miss cleo" does shamanism.
(i will admit that when she comes on i'm strongly tempted to shoot my t.v. again, this time on purpose, but i'm resisting the impulse. $300.00/400.00 for a decent new set plus $0.25 for the bullet wasted is too much for only a momentary pleasure and reporting an "accidental discharge" to the cops is a nuisance.)

exactly demeter, that's s.o.p. for any telemarketer offerring "free calls", the "900 line" sex call business is notorious for that too though i've never had the desire to call one. i get this mental picture of some overweight gal in a scruffy housecoat with her hair up in curlers sitting there with a cold cup of coffee talking dirty on the phone while watching sally jesse rapheal or jerry springer on the telly. not my vision of a romantic fantasty. but yes, the object is to use up the "free" time and switch you to the "900" number and get the meter running.

i didn't intend to mock your belief or priesthood. if it seemed so i apologise most sincerely. my thought was for "miss cleo's" obvious ignorance and cupidity, which does deserve a scolding and more for her playing with people's feelings and emotions to hustle a dollar. you and the others here who try to see what is not yet but may be are honest in your beliefs, as i believe she is not, and i respect you where i cannot respect her.
